Dream Theater Review
I saw Dream Theater. Wow.

Amazing, truly amazing. This was the day Ford, Moody, and I have been waiting for forever. Matt Adams too, but not as long as we waited. This was an orgasmic concert, I don't even know where to begin. Trying to describe everyhting that went on would cause my head to combust, so I'll just keep it to a basic description.

When we got there (Chris Ford, Matt Moody, Matt Adams, Mom, Dad, and myself) we waited outside for about an hour before the doors opened. As soon as we got in there, my parents headed up to the balcony and we headed on over to buy shirts.  After making this purchase, we had to decide where we would go to watch the concert.  Ford, being the size he is, took the floor; while me, Moody, and Matt Adams headed up to the balcony.  After a good whiles worth of wait, the first bit of action started.  They had three screens on the stage that showed a movie of Dream Theater progressing from when they started to their most recent album.  It even started off as when they were called Majesty.  After showing clips of them from each year, they took to the stage and opened with As I Am. What a good song, I thoroughly liked. The rest of their setlist was This Dying Soul, Beyond This Life, Hollow Years, Caught In A Web, Endless Sacrifice, Finally Free, [intermission], Trial Of Tears, Honor Thy Father, keyboard solo, Only A Matter Of Time, Vacant, Stream Of Consciousness, Pull Me Under, [encore], In The Name Of God.

I thought they played a wonderful variety of their songs.  Very good setlist.  Rudess' and Portnoy's solo was amazing and also very funny. We couldn't help but laugh because of what Rudess would play, it was awesome.  Watching Labrie, Petrucci, Portnoy, Rudess, and Myung was quite an experience and something I will never forget. Myung just did his usual performance of standing in one place and moving his head around. Petrucci did some amazing solo's and showed off whenever he could. Portnoy would flip and throw his sticks alot.  Rudess would be goofy and make faces while playing on his revolving keyboard.  And Labrie was pretty cool to watch for the 1/4 of the time he was on stage actually doing something..  My highlights of the show were As I Am, Hollow Years, Endless Sacrifice, Honor Thy Father, Pull Me Under, and In The Name of God, which was a wonderful song to end with.

Next time they come to D.C., YOU need to go and see them. Yes, YOU......the person reading my review, YOU must go see them.  It will change the way you think about music.
