Most laid back concert I've been to.....felt good for a change. Before seeing Charlie Daniels I recently bought a "best of" cd and became a small fan. After seeing Charlie Daniels, I became a huge fan and now consider Daniels to be in my top 10 favorite bands. The first thing we did when we got there was bought shirts. Before Charlie Daniel's Band played, some new-country artist girl performed. It was bad.......Anyways, back to Daniels......They played an awesome set list, there were still lots of songs I wanted to hear though, but the songs they played were really good. They opened with "Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye". Some of the songs they played were In America, Simple Man, The Legend Of Wooley Swamp, The South's Gonna Do It Again, Long Haired Country Boy, and other songs that I wasn't familiar with, plus a long jam that was amazing. Then they ended with The Devil Went Down To Georgia. All the musicians in the band were very talented, the drummer and guitarist could easily be compared to Petrucci and Portnoy. Each member had quite a few solo's and their times to show off. During their long jam, Charlie went to everyone in the band and (what seemed to be) challenged each one of them w/ a solo. The jam consisted of lots of differnent parts of songs and even stuff like "Mary Had A Little Lamb", it was very amusing. The sight of rednecks, confederate flags, people dancin', and Charlie Daniels himself, made the night very enjoyable. Now I can say I like Charlie Daniels more than Lynyrd Skynyrd....who else is with me? |
