      Fall and Spring Jacket

Materials Needed:

1 sweatshirt [1 size larger
than wearer]
Velcro small width
needle and thread
sewing machine,
contrasting thread
straight pins, scissors
patches, appliqu�s, or fabric paint or a combination of any  of those  
piece of chalk
measuring tape or ruler


          


             
  Instructions: Place the
sweatshirt flat on a table. 
Measure the sweatshirt from     
left to right.  Divide that number       by 2 so you can find the center. 
Mark the center with the chalk. 
Cut down the chalk line from
top to bottom.  Fold in cut
sides the same width as the
Velcro pinning with straight
pins.  On a sewing machine,
sew a straight line down the
center of each side, pulling out
the pins as you sew.  Sew
patches or appliques on.  Use
the fabric paint last making
whatever design you want. 
   Let set overnight.  Do
not wash for at least a
week, then only as 
necessary.
         Pen/Pencil Holders

Materials Needed:

Plastic frozen juice containers
glue
fabric

Directions:  Cut fabric out to fit 
around the juice container plus
an extra 1 1/2 inches.  Run a
bead of glue along the entire
wrong side edge of the fabric. 
Lay the juice container on the 
fabric and begin rolling it up.   
Keep rolling until the fabric
meets and hold for a few
minutes.
         Office Supply Holders

Materials needed:

1 plastic bead kit empty box
fabric to cover the bottom of box
glue
fabric paint

Directions: Place a bead of glue 
around the edge of the wrong side of     the fabric.  Place bottom of the box       onto the fabric, pressing down        slightly.   Use the fabric paint to write      the words office supplies on the top           of the lid. 
Small glass jars such as cherry jars can be decorated the same way.  If you want to you can cut the fabric so that it shows part of the glass so you can see what is in it.
Otherwise, you can place a Xmas gift tag pn the lid to mark what is inside. 
   Decorative Photo Frames

Materials Needed:

photo frame
decorations [small beads,  
mirrored squares, ribbon, small 
rocks and fabric paint can all be
used as you like]
glue

Directions: Add the photo of
your choice and then glue your 
decorations wherever you like
and then set to dry. 
   Orange Rind Bird Feeders

Materials needed:

orange halves
heavy twine [14 inches]
phillips head screwdriver
peanut butter
loose suet

Directions: Cut an orange in
1/2.  Scoop out the orange. 
Using the screwdriver, pierce
2 holes on opposite sides of
the rind.  Feed the twine through
each side making a knot.  Fill
with a combination of peanut butter and suet.  Hang on a sturdy tree branch.   Re-fill
      it as needed. 

        Table or Dresser Runners

Materials needed:

fabric
glue

Instructions: Cut the fabric to the 
size of the table or dresser top you        are working with plus a 1/2 inch        around all sides.  Place a bead of           glue along one edge and fold fabric           in a 1/2 inch.  Continue until all            edges are done.   Set to dry           overnight.  Lay runnner on table or
dresser and place whatever
items on it that you want.
     Decorative Photo Albums

Materials needed:
plain photo album
fabric paint
fabric (enough to cover front and
back cover)
glue

Directions: Cut the fabric in 2 pieces the size of the covers.  Place a bead of glue on the entire edge of the wrong side of the fabric.  Press the back of the album onto the fabric.  Repeat with the front of the album.  Use the fabric paint to write My 
              Special Memories on
              the front of the album.             Set to dry overnight.
