Welcome to Darcey's Retro page.
This is in dedication to some favorite celebs of mine.
This page was started on November 5, 2003.

My fascination with Lance Kerwin aka James at 15/16  [1977-1978] came when I was in the 7th grade. My
teacher, Mr. Stack was always encouraging those of us
who wanted to be writers, to do just that. Fact is, it is
his fault that I became a writer and I would not have it any other way.
I don't know how many of you remember the scolastic
readers and the book order forms, but I do. One of the
teen magazines that dealt with teen writings asked for
script submissions for favorite TV shows which had to
be sent in by a teacher. The winner had his or her script
printed in the magazine. Mr. Stack remembered that I
liked script writing so he asked me to submit something.
The only show on my mind was James at 15. I began
writing and no time I had a small script ready to send in.
Mr. Stack checked over my script for any errors. I re-
typed it and he sent it in for me. We were not expecting
any miracles, but it didn't hurt to be hopeful.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, I got
my first rejection letter. "Thank you for your recent
submission. Since someone already sent us a script from
the same TV show you picked, we have decided to go
with the script that came in to our office first." Of course
I was not happy about that, but I did not quit writing.
The magazine sent me a copy of the issue that had the
James at 15 winning script.
Since then, I wrote a script for my other favorite show
Family, starring Kristy McNichol and a play about my
high school friends. I write poetry these days which is
fine by me. Someday I would like to write a book and
re-work my plays [just so I can say they are finally done.]

This is one of the only sites I have found that has any info on James at 15/16. There is a mini episode guide, a list of the cast, a note about the show and when it became James at 16.
Do you recognize any of these people?
At one time, I had more than 60 8 x 10 pics of Shaun Cassidy on my bedroom wall.  It was the best wall paper ever!!  Oh for some sleepy time dreams!
About the Hardy boys ....well alternately known as Shaun Cassidy [Joe Hardy] and Parker Stevenson [Frank Hardy].  I  started reading "The Hardy Boys" books when I was 8 years  old.  I still enjoy them and in fact began collecting the new set which came out in 2000.  I am hoping to have the entire set.  Anyhoo.. when that became a TV show, I was THRILLED.  I like watching mystery shows with all the lights  off and the curtains closed ..make like an eerie effect.
My  favorite episode is "The Last Kiss of Summer: Part 1 & 2". Joe was all ready to get married when his girlfriend was hit by a drunk driver and killed.  Joe decides he wants to make  sure that the driver is put in jail.  During Part 1, the song "If" by Bread was played ...If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you .. A song that I have never forgotten.  Joe poses as a rich guy and eventually the drunk driver lands himself in jail.
I watched Leif Garrett when he was on Family as Buddy's  boyfriend Zack.  David Cassidy I watched on The Partridge Family and I even have some of their albums.  Willie Aames  and Scott Baio I watched on Charles in Charge, but also on Happy Days and Eight is Enough.  John Travolta I saw on Welcome Back Kotter, but I have one of John's albums and really I was hoping that he would do more with his singing career.  My favorite John movie is "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble."  As for all of the singers posted, I really do enjoy their music which I mostly have on LP's and 45's and still have a  turntable to listen to them. Up until a few years ago, I still had a functioning 8-track player.  Now if you remember 8-tracks then you have dated yourself aplenty!
