The Pasts We Wish We Didn’t Have: Part Seven
“Where is he?” the cold harsh voice asked.
“He’s good. He is following our Father’s ways,” she answered mockingly.
“You let him--”
“Let’s get one thing straight, Lucifer, I let him do nothing. You need to understand something, he is my Master, not you!”
“And who is his Master, little Lorelei?”
“No one. We didn’t join you armies when you came to us and your influence is on humans, not on your brothers and sisters. Our lust is our own, not yours!”
“I have told you I understand this, little girl. I was alive when our so-called Heavenly Father created the mortals. You are the youngest of angels, barely entering your eternal phase. And not only that, but your only half of a greater whole. So when it comes to the two of us, I am the strongest. You cannot hurt me, but I can sure as hell hurt you.” He was so close she could smell his rancid breath. He grabbed her shoulders and squeeze hard, picking her up. She didn’t wince from the pain, in fact she smiled. “So listen to me when I say that only you can bring him back to us—to you.” With that he tossed her into the wall of the room and walked away. Lorelei stood up and went to the small package she had brought with her. She pulled a glass, circular case from it, and looked happily at the ball of glowing white light inside. “Oh don’t worry, you old fart. I’ll bring him back.” She focused her attention to the container in her hand, it’s light illuminating her face. He has to come looking for me, isn’t that right, little Wufei?” She laughed and stood, going to one of the windows of the massive black fortress. She looked out it to the mass of humans being tortured in thousands of different ways, into Hell.
Michael slowly left Quatre go. Quatre started around himself in amazement. The building of this place where amazing. Then he noticed Trowa throw up. “Trowa?!” He rushed to his lover.
“It’s alright.” Duo said, watching Heero fall to butt, rubbing his temples, “Most of the time humans feel like that when they are transported. What makes you sensitive to others makes you immune to it.” Quatre rubbed Trowa’s back and Trowa turned around to smile at him. Duo helped Heero stand. “
“Duo you should go see Lorrie. We need her to find Lorelei.” Duo’s father shock his head, that just sounded so odd.
“Yeah.” Duo sighed and looked up at the building they were closest too. His wings quickly pulled out of his back. Then he jumped and flew to the balcony of that building.
Heero, Trowa and Quatre stared up at him as he entered the building. “Why didn’t that hurt him? It hurt you when you showed us on Earth.” Quatre asked Duo’s father.
“It’s different here.”
Duo’s father and Michael both turned to walk to another building, “Well come on you three.” Michael called.
“What about Duo?” asked Heero.
“He has to work out a few things with Lorrie.” Duo’s father answered.
“This is why I always say, it’s just better not to like women.”
“Whatever you say Michael.” Duo’s father sighed.
“Wait a minute,” Quatre spoke up, rushing to catch up with the angels, “Are you saying that the archangel is gay?”
Michael just smiled at him. Quatre smiled back. Trowa quickly grabbed his lover’s hand. Michael outright laughed.
“Lorrie?” asked Duo carefully, his voice barely a whisper, the veils of the window blowing in his face.
“Go away,” Lorrie cried, her voice thick with tears.
“Ah, Lorelei.” Duo said playfully. Now by their bed, he ran his fingers down the sheer veils of the bed.
She turned her head from her pillow and arched her neck to look at him. “Why do you call me that name?” She asked.
“I thought that was your name.” He sat on the bed.
She sighed, tears made wet lines on her face. “Not anymore. I’m so sorry Duo, but the thought of you and…and Heero. It hurt me, but I can’t really blame you. I remember the time you got drunk, and hit on Michael.”
Duo chuckled, “You knew I was bi before that.”
“Yeah, but then we promised each other it would just be us, together. But then you went to Earth.”
“I sorry, Lorelei. But you know, I wouldn’t trade my life on Earth for anything.”
“Not even me?”
Silence.
“We need you to find out where your evil half is.”
She sighed again, “It’s not that I’m jealous, I can’t be. It’s just, I love you.” She sat up and walked from the room.
“Since Lorrie is technically only half of herself there is a type of mental link between herself and her evil half. We perform this ritual and she can follow the link to find where the evil half is. It’s gonna take a while, luckily the amount of time we took before was mostly hunting down the ritual, so it won’t take that long, but still it’s gonna take maybe a couple of days, to prepare and carry out.” Michael explained.
The humans in the room nodded, then looked at the doorway as Duo followed Lorrie inside. She actually smiled sweetly at everyone, as Duo’s father came forward to lead her in the middle of the circle. He took a pair of small gold scissors and cut off some of her hair. Then Michael took the hair and placed it in a small bowl. “It’s time for us to leave.” He whispers, as two angels walked into the room, one with golden wings, the other with a very faint green.
Together the angels and humans in the room left. A small female angel walked up to them, her wings were a sky-blue, “They said your name was Duo now,” she said, her eyes filled with tears.
Duo nodded, his lips pressed together, “Yeah, yeah, it is. Hello Mother.” He said and she rushed to hug him.
“Oh, it feels like forever since I last saw you, my precious child. Which sounds so silly, I mean, from someone who will live forever.”
Duo shock his head and kissed the woman on the check, tasting her salty tears. “We really should step away from the door,” Duo’s father said, “Angels will be coming in and out of this room.”
Duo and his mother separated and together, mother, father and son walked away, talking in hurried, happy voices. Michael came behind Heero, Trowa and Quatre, “Feel out of place, boys? We really didn’t plan on you all coming here, but really there is nothing we can do right now. The ritual will be carried out and then we can do something. But until then, I have nothing for you all to do.” Michael smiled.
Quarter turned to him, “That’s ok. This place, we’re lucky to be here, I mean most humans don’t even get to see it, or even dream it. Still I think all three of us can’t help thinking about Wufei.”
“You left the note to your maids not to go into that room. He will sleep in a dreamless state till we break him out of it, there really is nothing more we can do that we haven’t done, or aren’t doing. I know, waiting must be killing you. We watched Duo get close to you four, we know the bond formed by fellow warriors, believe me. When Lorelei’s mother died, I mean, she was there since the beginning as well, it killed all of us in some way or another. I couldn’t imagine knowing that one of my friends had been through what Wufei was forced to go through. But really, there is nothing we can do.” They reflected a moment, Heero watched Duo and his family disappear from the building.
“What did Lorrie and Duo have to work out?” Heero asked.
“You,” Michael said simply. “Well, and Duo’s attitude towards this place. He is actually taking everything ok, but inside, we all hear him hoping it’s just a dream. It’s amazing, on Earth he wished that he had a ‘grown-up’ relationship, but now he’s found out he had had one for centuries and he’s not so sure anymore.” Michael snorted. “Even angels can be confused I guess.”
“What about you?” asked Trowa.
“Me? I’m still looking for Mister Right,” he joked. “Actually, I get to live forever, so what’s the point of me rushing it?”
“Good point.”
“Well, boys, until we actually find out where Lorelei’s at, how about a tour of our fabulous city?” Michael smiled at them.
