The Pasts We Wish We Didn’t Have: Part 13

            Duo stared at Lorelei for a moment, went to Wufei and placed a hand on his arm.

            “Calm.” He told Wufei and Wufei’s breathing regulated.

            “He can’t help it you know, after what we did together, who could ever forget it?” she asked, the smile still firm on her face. Duo looked at Heero.

            “Heero, put the gun away. Please.” Heero looked at Duo for a moment, no expression on his face, and then tucked the gun into the back into its hiding place. Lorelei turned and smiled at him. “You’ve been quite the bust boy, Duo. Not that I blame you.” She eyed Heero.

            “Lorelei.” Duo’s mind was quickly going over the plan, “What are you doing here?” The crowd was still looking at them, but quickly losing interest. She walked up to her old lover.

            “You aren’t searching for me any more are you?” She put her arms around his neck.

            “Ah, were you hiding again?” Duo was mocking her.

            “Aren’t you going to try and shove me back together again?”

            “Why would I want to do that? Having you separated can be so much more fun.” Duo smiled a smile that almost matched hers. “Of course…” he bent his head to whisper in her ear, “I want to fuck you, Lorelei, right now.” He said, his voice dangerous and serious, he knew it would excite her, and he pressed her close to him for emphasize. Then grabbed her harshly by the arm and dragged her away, leaving his friends behind.

            The remaining ex-Gundam pilots looked at each other. “You ok?” Quatre asked Wufei. Wufei nodded and swallowed.

            “We should go.” Heero said his voice with a hint of urgency. The others nodded and quickly followed him out of the club.

            Duo opened the door to the room and let her inside. She smiled her evil smile and walked in. He closed the door behind him and pulled heavy sliver handcuffs out from behind his shirt. (1) She turned to look at him again saw them, and laughed. He looked at her the same way he had looked at the hookers he had killed, and she loved it.

            “Get on the bed, now.” He ordered.

            “Make me.” She taunted him. He walked up to her, silently she looked up at him. He grabbed her arm forcibly and clasped the handcuffs on it. She fought him and he grabbed her shoulders roughly, picked her up and threw her on the bed. Then he got on top of her, using one hand he held her arm with the hand cuff above her head, she struggled against him, using her free hand to slap his face. He grabbed this arm and pulled it next to the other one, skillfully looping the hand cuffs around the bar of the head board and locking her other hand up. He smiled at her and then sat up on the edge of the bed, his back was to her.

            “Duo?” she asked.

            <What do you think this is Lorelei? What do you expect me to do?> he asked her in Adam’s Tongue.

            <I expect you to do what you used to do, My Prince. Hurt me.> She answered.

            “No.” He stood and went to the door. When he opened it Lorrie and Quatre were standing there, “I’m sorry.” Duo told her. “I didn’t hurt you too badly did I?” She shook her head, and then looked inside to see her evil half.

            “NO!” Lorelei screamed and struggled against her bounds.

            “It’s no use Lorelei. They have a spell on them, you can get lose.” Duo told her.

            “NO!” She screamed again, madly thrashing against the bed. She screamed as the other Gundam pilots moved into the room. Trowa was holding a small chest, Wufei and Quatre both held two thick blood-red candles; Heero had a black jagged knife. Even as her evil half was moving and kicking her legs, Duo carefully laid Lorrie down beside her. He took out another pair of hand cuffs and carefully locked Lorrie to the other bed post. Her evil side tried frantically to kick her but Duo quickly went around the bed, placed his hands on her body and said, “Still!” She calmed down and stared at the ceiling, breathing through gritted teeth. Lorrie glanced at her scared and then looked back at Duo.

            “It’s ok, everything will be ok.” He went back to her and placed a soothing hand on her cheek, then bent to kiss her forehead.

            Heero watched them as Trowa and Quatre started to place the contents of the small chest on the table of the hotel room. Bottles shaped in many ways, filled with several liquids and dusts. Wufei placed the four candles around the room and lit them. When Duo straightened his back Heero came forward and handed him the blade.

            “I’m so sorry about this Lorrie.” He said, looking at the good half of his old lover as he walked to the evil half and placed the knife on her right cheek. Small beads of blood started to pour from where the blade touched her skin. Lorrie flinched and her cheek started to bleed as well. Duo started to chant something under his breath, Trowa and Quatre came forward to pour some of the contents of some of the bottles over the two halves of Lorelei, Wufei moved to the corner of the room. They had gone over this ceremony several times; the humans knew what to do. Duo kept chanting under his breath, as he cut the other side of Lorelei’s face, blood dripped from Lorrie’s cheek as well. Trowa and Quatre poured more bottles on the two women. Dust flew into the air. Duo’s chanting became louder, he slowly untied Lorelei’s black shirt to cut over her heart, and Lorrie’s white blouse became stained with blood. Finally all of the bottles were empty and Heero stood to stand next to Duo. Duo lifted Heero’s arm and cut his palm. Droplets of Heero’s human blood fell on the bedspread, and onto the legs of both women. The blood made their skin sizzle, almost as if it were acid. Both women screamed with one voice, their backs arched. A mist-like mass of blackness tore itself from Lorelei and at the same moment a white one floated from Lorrie. Heero and Duo stepped away from the bed.

            The two women continued screaming in agony as the mists swirled together over their heads and wind came from them, blowing the hair of the Gundam pilots and snuffing out the candles. It picked up the women on the bed, tore off the chains and appeared to swallow them. A flash off light reached every corner of the room, forcing the men to cover their eyes. When they could look again Lorelei was sitting hunched on the bed, her hair a mess, and her wings crumpled behind her, but there was only one of her. She wore a tattered mixture of the outfits her two halves had been wearing, but there was only one of her. Duo rushed forwards to help her, she recoiled from his hands, “Don’t touch me!” she yelled. She moved to the edge of the bed by herself and was able to stand. Her legs were a bit wobbly, but she managed to walk to the door and open it. A white dove flew into the room and stole the knife from Duo’s hands, the knife that could hurt angels, and then flew away. She closed the door and turned to look back at Duo, supported herself against its cool metal. Her hair was in tangles around her face, her face harbored many beads of sweat. Her eyes darted around the room. She looked at Heero for a prolonged moment, but then her gaze rested on Duo. She stood again, adjusted the deformed shirt for more dignity, and then walked up to her old companion. For awhile the looked at each other, then she slapped him.

            The sound of her palm hitting his cheek rang in the room, his face was turned and his eyes were closed. She shook her head and tears formed in her sad eyes.

            <Do you remember who I am, Duo?> She asked him, and then shot Quatre an apology with her eyes as he clutched his heart.

            “Yes.”

            <What?>

            <Yes.>

            <Then why? Why in the Hell did you go to his bed?> She gestured madly towards Heero <After you remembered, after you remembered you loved me? ‘Life on Earth changed you whole outlook on eternity’?> She was screaming, “That’s bull shit Duo and you know it!”

            “Maybe it’s not!” He switched to English as she did. “Maybe my life on Earth has changed EVERY thing! Maybe I don’t want to be with you anymore! Maybe, just maybe I’ve realized I love Heero! How would you deal with that? You, whose selfish decision hurt one of my friends! You bitch!” He seemed just as shocked about his outburst as any one else in the room.

            “Fine!” She said, and stood back from him, switched her language again <You want to be human, with Mr. Prefect Soldier, that’s fine with me! But when you wake up one evening and realize what you’ve done, don’t expect me to be waiting for you!>

            <I won’t!>

            <Good!> She turned her back on him.

            <Good!> He recounted.

            She took one look around her and burst out into tears. Duo sighed and took her shoulders in his arms. She turned and fell into his chest.

            “I’m sorry,” he said, “I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”

            “And I should have told them all to go to Hell and gone to get you, damn the consequences. But now you’re going to leave me. I know it. If God lets you know how to be human, you’ll become human. I know it. I know you. You’re going to leave me.”

            He didn’t say respond, just held her, “We need to go home. Get you cleaned up. Make plans to have a trip to Hell, that short of thing.” She nodded. He looked to his old comrades, “Don’t wait up.” Then the two angels disappeared.
