The Pasts We Wish We Didn’t Have: Part 12
Lucifer woke up with a start, quickly threw off the thin silk black sheet and moved swiftly to slip on a black satin bathrobe, which he grabbed from the place it was laying with its match on the dresser beside the bed.
“What it is?” Michael asked, sitting up, the sheet falling to expose his well-defined chest.
Lucifer stopped from his hurried movements and looked at his husband. He moved to the bed to kiss him once more. “Your legions have come to take you away.” He said, green eyes looking into blue ones very seriously. Lucifer let his hand rest on Michael’s nape, under black hair that had dried sweat mixed into it. Michael’s brow wrinkled.
“What?” he asked.
Lucifer moved away from the bed, “They’ve decided you cannot keep a promise and they have come to take you away.” He moved to the door. Michael stood from the bed to grab the other bathrobe. Lucifer turned in time to watch him slip it one and smiled at his naked form.
“You pervert.” Michael commented on Lucifer’s look as he tied the sash around his waist.
Luc didn’t respond, but turned to open the door and run down the twisted stairs. Michael followed him.
When they made it to the massive throne room Lucifer mentally opened the doors to show Duo’s father and other white-winged angels standing behind it.
“Well,” Lucifer commented loudly, as he sat on the throne careful to have the robe covering himself, “What a pleasant surprise, please come in.” Duo’s father and the other angels moved forward, as Michael slowly walked to stand beside the throne.
The several pairs angelic eyes moved from Michael to Lucifer and Lucifer smiled a malevolent smile. Each one of them noticed the matching bathrobes.
“My Lord and Leader Michael,” Duo’s father came forward to bow to Michael, “Why have you remained here? We need you back home.”
Michael watched this angel stand, but said nothing, instead Lucifer spoke up, “Michael and I have an agreement. Are you saying he should break it?”
“We are saying he should come home!” answered another angel.
“Don’t be so ridiculous, Gabriel!” Lucifer recounted, “But I suppose that it is Michael’s decision. My dear,” He turned to face Michael, “What do you think?” He was mocking the other angels in his manner and tone.
“Go.” Michael told them under his breath.
“What?” Duo’s father asked.
“Go.” Michael said more clearly. Lucifer laughed and relaxed into his throne.
“But Sir!”
“GO!” Michael yelled.

Music blared, the beat moved through the bodies in the room. Bodies dancing, bodies sitting and drinking, a massive crowd crammed into a small building.
“I cannot believe I let you talk me into coming here!” Quatre yelled over the techno song.
“Come on Quatre, you know you like checking out all these gorgeous men!” Duo said.
“You forget that Quatre’s spoken for.” Trowa yelled out, putting his arm around Quatre’s chest.
“Oh, no, I remember, you monogamous freaks are wearing the same outfit!” Duo looked them up and down, the black pants and light blue satin shirts that buttoned in the front; they both were even wearing the same plain black velvet chokers. Duo laughed looking at them and looked to Wufei who was sitting next to him. Trowa whispered something in Quatre’s ear than kissed his neck.
“You have to admit, it is a little weird.” Wufei said. The song ended and a new one immediately started up.
“Come on, Heero, dance with me?” Duo asked the man standing next to Wufei.
“No.” Heero said simply, sipping the liquor from his cup.
Duo pouted for a moment then said, “Fine.” He turned towards Quatre and Trowa again, “I’m stealing your boyfriend!” He told Trowa and before they could react Duo grabbed Quatre by the arm and pulled him into the dance floor. Quatre followed obediently. They had always been the only two who were willing to dance, and so they always ended up dancing together when the five of them went to clubs. There was no hesitation either, they simply started moving. Quatre’s hands rose over his head and Duo’s arms went around Quatre’s waist. Their bodies moved to the beat of the song. Quatre didn’t worry about offending Trowa in these dances, so he wasn’t opposed to seductive and suggestive moves, and Duo loved to show off. Luckily both of them were nimble, skinny and more flexible than the average person. These qualities came from two things, training to be a Gundam pilot and creative minds when it came to sex.
Two upbeat songs went by and a slow moving one started. Duo and Quatre moved close together. They were friends, close friends, had been since the war, since the day that Heero had self-destructed. Duo had been so torn up about that, when Quatre had given him a shoulder to cry on, he accepted it, even though he never cried. They were close after that. They had talked about Heero and Trowa and where shocked to learn that Gundam piloting wasn’t the only thing they had in common. At that time neither was in love, but there had been a fatal attraction from both of them to other Gundam pilots. They had connected to each other in so many ways. Now this slow dance pressed their bodies together. (1)
“How you been, kid?” Duo asked Quatre softly in the ear as they shuffled around the hard wood floor.
“Good. I’ve been worrying about you.” Quatre answered.
“Really? Why?” Duo was surprised.
“You’ve found out a lot about yourself the past few days, and the whole thing with Lorelei.”
Duo was quiet for a while, “I guess that’s why I wanted to come here. You know hang out like we used to; forget about the last few days, maybe just for a little while.”
Quatre arched back his neck to look at Duo’s face, “Have you?”
“A little.”
Quatre moved his chin on Duo’s shoulder again, and kissed his cheek. They danced for a few more moments before Duo admitted, “You know there was time when I had a little crush on you.” Quatre giggled a little.
“I had one
on you too.” Quatre and Duo laughed together, both surprised they had the
daring to make those confessions. Quatre put his forehead on Duo’s shoulder. “I
asked Trowa to marry
The soft song ended, and another upbeat tune replaced it. However Duo and Quatre didn’t move apart.
“What?” Duo
asked, surprised not by the statement, but by the way Quatre said it, he
sounded miserable. They moved to look each other again. Duo saw tears forming
in Quatre’s eyes. “He turned you down, didn’t he?” Quatre nodded miserably.
“What? But…” Duo was terribly confused at this point.
“He gave me a lot of reasons. Catherine, the circus, my business. But I know the real reason, and I can’t do anything about it.” Quatre’s frustration and desolation came out of his voice. Duo held him, in contradiction to the music blaring in their ears. Duo knew the real reason as well. They never talked about Trowa’s past for a reason, but Quatre had confided in Duo. Duo wasn’t sure if Wufei or Heero knew, but he knew and because of that, he held Quatre. An idea came into Duo’s head, he patted Quatre on the back.
“Hey, Kat, look at me.” Quatre looked up at him, smiling at the affectionate nickname Duo had given him, “Every thing is going to be ok. Ok?” He smiled at Quatre and slowly Quatre smiled back and nodded. “Come on let’s go back to the guys.” He took Quatre by the hand and led him back to the bar where their friends were standing, but before they got there, there was a commotion in the crowd ahead of them. Duo and Quatre rushed to the bar to find Heero with a gun out, pointed right into the head of Lorelei. Wufei was standing, eyes wide and breathing hard, behind Trowa, who had his arm out to protect his Chinese friend. Duo saw this and ran towards them.
“Duo!” Lorelei said, mock-sweetly, when she saw Duo, “Tell his idiot butt buddy of yours that bullets can’t hurt me. He seems to have forgotten this fact.” She smiled at him evilly.
