Angel I. 1999
ceramic/slate

This piece formed the
right-hand side of the
"Fall" trilogy. A womans
form emerges from
a hostile enviroment,
signified by the two
looming faces above
and below her. Just under
her foot lies an apple,
which ,for me, is a symbol
of the ritual scapegoating
of woman as practised
in the Christian world.
Around her head floats
a Halo, another symbol
used to limit and define
those woman that the
church approved of or who
were to be role models.
