Daily (weekly) Dose of Stupidity #99
Greetings to all of you!  I would like to apologize for the lack of Daily
Doses lately -- I have been so busy that I guess this one should be called
a "Weekly Dose of Stupidity."

Today's (or this week's, i guess) topic is Free Stuff on the Internet.  Have
you ever looked around at all of the stuff that is offered to you for free on
the Internet?  There are tons and tons of things that you can sign up for out
there.

To start out with, I looked at Yahoo! results for 'free stuff.'  What a
better way than that, huh?  There were 7 category matches and probably 160
sites listed.  Most of these sites were pretty much the same, listing
categories like 'books' and 'health and beauty' and 'coupons'.

So, I'm sitting here, looking up free stuff.  "Hey, Sara," I say (for those
of you who don't know, Sara is my roommate), "How about some free
candy?"  "Sure!" she says.  "Hey, Sara," I say, "How about a free T-
Shirt?"  "What does it look like?" she asks.  "Well, I don't know what
company this is, but they have a cool logo," I say.  "OK, sounds good," she
replies.

Well, it went on and on like this... until I found a really great one: a
website offering free septic helper.  "Hey, Sara, what do you think about
free septic helper?" I ask her with a mischeivious grin.  She looks at me
like I'm crazy.  I was all excited.  Can you imagine the looks I would get
when I go to the front desk to pick up my package of free septic cleaner
enzymes?!   Well, needless to say, I went on their site.  Come on, do you
think I was really going to sign up?  Ha.  Probably not.  But, I was
curious.  Sorry, everybody, they just offer free information, not free
samples!

Well, I was looking around.  I found a free golf ball and a free post-it note
dispenser ("I invented Post-its...." Sorry, I had to include that... heh-
heh).  Neither of these things worked, though.  I couldn't find where to get
my free samples.

Now, what really scared me was when I went on one site and they had
categories of free stuff.  One of the categories was "Animals."  Just think
about that.  *Sign up for your free pet hampster.  Delivered in 4-6 weeks.*

OK, probably not.  But funny nontheless.

Well, I'm going to end this Dose with a couple of sites for you to try out.
First of all, go to www.jellybelly.com and look for the thing that says free
samples.  Then click on the US Survey.  If you get there at the right time,
you can get free samples.  I haven't done it yet, but I'm sure as 'ell trying!
How about a free pair of boxer shorts?  Go to www.myundies.com and sign up.

These are only a couple of the millions of free things offered on the net.
Just search around a little bit.  Hey, who says you can't get something for
nothing?  Well, I guess you could say that you are sacrificing your dignity
when you sign up for half of this stuff..........

So, when my free stuff starts rolling in I'll tell you.  Until then, happy
free stuff!
