Daily dose of Stupidity #65+83x-789/3x
OK, since no one complained about the last stupid stuff o'the day, then I'll
send you another one.

Today's topic: Calculus.  This topic comes to us courtesy of me, because I
was just attempting to do mine, and I want to tell you about how much it
sucks.

Actually, this is not so much about calculus as it is Math in general.

Now, I agree that we all need math in our lives.  We all need to count our
fingers and toes to make sure they're there.  We need to be able to calculate
how many cookies we want to eat.  We need to make sure that we get equal
amounts of pizza so that we don't get gipped out of that extra pepperoni.

But, I don't see why we need to know how to work out long and complicated
problems like 9x^6(470,000x)/f(g(x)) if x<0 but x>683.  We go through lots
and lots of work just to figure out in the end that it doesn't really equal
anything except the sqaure root of 43.  And, in essence, if all we did was
simplify it, then it doesn't really matter.  We just wasted 3 hours and a
tree to figure out that that was the simplified answer.  I think that if
everyone's so obsessed with simplifying, then we could just get rid of long
and complicated math.  Wouldn't that be simple?

So, I've gotta get to class.

That wasn't a real problem, I made it up, so, don't worry, no trees or brains
were harmed in the making of this e-mail.
