Daily Dose of Stupidity #42
Well, it's T minus two hours.

In two hours I leave for my Percussion Ensemble concert.

Have any of you ever seen me get nervous about anything?

Neither have I.

And I'm not.  I just felt like telling all of you that I have a Percussion
Ensemble concert in two hours.  I'm not nervous about it.  Actually, I'm
rather excited.

See, we're doing some really cool songs.  We're doing a couple Mary Ellen
Childs pieces, a John Cage piece, a Pauline Olvideras piece, and a chromatic
fox trot by George Hamilton Green.  Now, I bet that most (OK, probably none,
maybe with the exception of Mrs. Riske) have heard of these people.  To
start, Mary Ellen Childs composes some pretty cool songs.  We're doing one
where we use cello bows on a vibraphone, and another one where we have to
fling our arms around a lot as three of us play some toms.  John Cage is
really cool; he's got some pretty wild, out-there pieces for woodblocks and
rataan sticks.  The Pauline Olivderas piece that we're doing is pretty cool,
too.  The score is a big geometric shape.  That's it.  There are no notes,
just lines on the page (it's like a big hexagon with cool geometric stuff).
Ahh, and George Hamilton Green?  Only one of the best rag and fox trot
composers for the xylophone.

So, our concert's going to be really cool.  I am not nervous, but excited!

See, Mike (the percussion guy) is actually being nice to me, too.  In his
words, I am now an accepted member of the UWRF percussion ensemble.  He asked
me how I felt about this.  I told him that I feel kinda special.  I mean, I
don't get yelled at by him anymore; he doesn't yell, he politely suggests.
And during Drum Trio by Mary Ellen Childs (the one where we've gotta fling
our arms) I have actually been being more dramatic than Mike.

Now, this isn't to say that Mike isn't annoyingly overdramatic.  He's still
the same old band geek that he always has been -- grossly overexaggerating
every little thing.

But, anyway, I just thought that all of you guys wanted to know about how I
am truly excited for this concert.  It's gonna be better than cool!

And, if you didn't want to hear that, then you should have stopped reading.
Hey, it's my mailing list and I can talk about anything I want.
