My daughter, Lin
Thank you for visiting
Lindsey-belle

This is my daughter
I knew her in August 1988 before she was ever born
She knew the sound of my voice and
searched for my face on the day she was born
I've seen her at her best times and at her worst
and I love it all

I remember carrot cake on her first birthday
with friends and family around
I remember her begging to take off her training wheels
and doing that for her after I saw her borrow her friend's bike
and fly down a hill
I remember the first ghost she was
the first step she took
her first school bus ride
and how I felt when she said her first sentence to me
She went to see Bob Dylan with me
but she will never remember that :-)

I have sat through teacher conferences
and xrays
karate classes and softball
Math Homework, oh grant me patience
I have monitored her while playing
and known where she is at just about every moment
and regretted those times when I wasn't there
and thought that other people had been taking care of her...
We talk on walkie talkie when she goes to the park
and sometimes, and these are the hard times,
we don't talk at all

But through it all, I am not just doing my time as her mom
Through it all, I feel truly blessed with the gift of being Lin's mom
Blessed with the gift of watching her life unfold
watching her become the person she wants to be
Thank you, Lin, for sharing it all with me
Love, Mom

This is my daughter, Lin. She is 16 years old, and driving in ever widening circles around home. She is making wonderful choices for herself, does well in school, because she is intelligent. She is a wonderful big sister for Daniella. I am realizing more and more that she will one day leave me and start her own life on her own. I will miss seeing her every day then, and sometimes I cry about that.
She and I have been through a lot together. She has been witness to my constant striving to make things better, and not settling for less than what I deserve. Her 16th birthday gift from me was a strong, symbolic gesture of all of that, though it is tough to put into words.
This is one of her favorite old songs playing...

Several years before Lin knew she would become a big sister, she wrote the following poem ...I think she was in a phase of wishful thinking... or maybe she knew something that I did not know??? Either way, I love this poem:

My Little Sister

My little sister
steals all my stuff
My little sister
acts like she's tough

My little sister
is such a pain
My little sister
sings in the rain

My little sister
is sometimes nice
My little sister
is afraid of mice

I comfort my little sister
when a mouse runs in,
but then my little sister
pokes me with a pin

I love my little sister
and she loves me.
and when we fight,
it's just sibling rivalry!
