rverie
by rlp
(first appeared in Sketches 24 February 2002)
in gently-curving edges
and finely-chiseled lines
she flows
to blend into the
sunbright water,
into the quiet water,
where nestling lilies slow-dance
around the rocks and
along the banks
to the music of the growing leaves
that unfold around her head
like the springtime halo
of some sylvan goddess.
softly the lilies float
under her sad gaze
and dream
of their glory years
dancing eternity
in golden sunlight
on the tip of Monet's brush
and the notes of
Debussy's piano.
