| HOW THE RATINGS WORK | ||||||||||
| Nowadays on record review web sites, there are several different methods of grading an album. You got Mark Prindle's special meter, from one to ten. Wilson and Alroy have a 5-star ratings, with half-stars allowed. George Starostin’s method is completely original, with an album rating plus the artist rating added together. John McFerrin has a similar, but more complicated method. Oh wait, we’re talking about me. My way is simple: I rate albums on a scale of one to ten. Like Prindle without a cute meter graphic. On the playlists, individual songs get no rating. Just to make it more about talking about the song rather than eveluating it. Simple methods, yes, but they work. For me. And they should work for you. P.S. Don’t ask me about ratings I give to two albums by two different artists (i.e. if a Monkees album gets higher than, say, a classic Who album). Different artists go by different standards |
