A really funny/amazing story about our honeymoon
Lorena and I were already engaged and we were in the midst of planning for the wedding. One day she is on the phone to Italy speaking with her aunt.
Lorena's aunt Laura just happens to be a Roman Catholic nun. Sister Laura just happens to work in Rome of all places.
Sometime during the conversation the topic of a wedding gift came up. Lorena's aunt desperately wanted to give us something since she wasn't going to be able to come to the wedding ceremony. Lorena knew that her aunt's vow of poverty would make this difficult and so she told her aunt not to worry that we were fine and that a few prayers from her on our behalf would be wonderful. Of course this led to a lengthy discussion where her aunt tried to pry the necessary information from Lorena and Lorena tried to convince her aunt that we were quite fine and didn't really need anything. Prayers are always good to have, you can never have enough prayer. Of course prayers from a servant of God are even better.
Anyhow - at some point in an attempt to end the conversation Lorena turned to me and said " Max it's my Zia Laura on the phone - she would like to know what we sort of wedding gift we would like her to send? " To which I jokingly replied " Well, while we're down there I wouldn't mind discussing a few things with the Pope." - I am a big proponent of change in the Catholic church, but enough about that.
Lorena repeats my request to her aunt and to my astonishment sister Laura says she will do what she can.
A few weeks later we receive a call from Rome telling us that we have two tickets to see the Pope give mass. A week after our wedding we are in the Vatican and you won't believe this picture!
