Girl Crushes

By Indie

Which hot chicks get your blood pumping?  Which girls do you like?  Back off guys, I’m talking to the girls in the room.

It starts out as a role model – somebody you want to be like, and then you begin coveting.  ‘Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours ass’, or that chick from telly’s ass.  You go from wanting to be like, to wanting to be.

My girl crush is Peta Wilson.  She’s this tall, leggy blonde chick who plays the title character in La Femme Nikita.  When I first started watching the show, I had a real thing for her male co star, but then it suddenly it dawned on me one day that actually, I was watching more and more for her than him.

I wanted her hair, I wanted her clothes; I wanted to live her life, even though, thinking about it, it was pretty shitty.

I used to work with this girl, Caitlyn, who would slaver over anything with Samantha Janus in.  Game On, Imogen’s Face, even that pathetic Babes in the Wood.  Caitlyn adored the ground Sam Janus walked on, and even openly admitted to possessing and listening to a copy of Sam’s Eurovision ‘hit’, .  Me, I’m just embarrassed to admit I remember what it was called.

I put it to some girls.  After looking at me funny for a few moments, assessing whether or not I was a covert lesbian, they vehemently denied ever having any crushes on girls, ever, except:

“I used to adore this girl in the sixth form at school.  I worshipped her.  She had these enormous brown eyes, and spiky brown hair, and used to wear these ripped up filthy Levis, which were just the coolest thing in the world.  All the boys fancied her and to me, she was everything I wanted to be.  I eventually found out that all the boys fancied her because she was a major slut, but at the time, she was a Goddess.”

“Yeah, okay, I wouldn’t call it a crush, but I used to have this thing for Drew Barrymore.  I totally wanted to be her.  I even used to enjoy watching ‘Doppelganger’ and ‘Poison Ivy’.  That’s true love.”

“I like Buffy.  I wouldn’t say I’m all into Sarah Michelle Gellar, but as Buffy she is cool.  I get so upset if I miss an episode, almost crying.  And I’m twenty-seven years old.”

Thank you.  I am not alone in my chick crush.  I think the crush thing is an extension on the role model.  Who cares?  Al that matters is that I NEED those shoes Peta Wilson was wearing in last week’s Nikita episode.
