| Well, I've done a little more thinking about how I'm going to vote this Tuesday. Some further thoughts as we go into this election. In the Florida Governor's race, I clearly believe that the lesser of two evils is Jeb Bush. Choosing between him and Bill McBride is like choosing between Colonel Klink and Chairman Mao. However, let us not forget some of the good things that Bush has done for Florida. (The 10-20-Life Law springs to mind.) So if your thing is grading politicians on the curve, then even though Bush fails, he fails less badly than McBride in my mind. Still seriously considering the NOTA vote. Most importantly, I want to vote NO on retaining any of the judges. Most of the problems we have in this state are because of activist liberal judges who write laws from the bench. Please, please...remember the embarassment of election 2000. That's what you get when you have an activist court. Vote "yes" to retain these bozos and just wave bye bye to the rule of law in this state. Now, I've re-thought my votes on the 10 proposed Florida Constitutional Amendments. Amendment 1 would allow the Death Penalty by any method approved by the United States Constitution. This one gets a "Yes" vote from me. Amendment 2 would require the State Legislature to provide the financial cost of any future amendment. YES!!! If this one were in force right now, we'd be less likely to have Amendment 10! Amendment 4, in my earlier rant I didn't understand...but now that I have a clearer explanation of it I'm voting for it. It's about a more open government and public information Amendment 7 will lower your taxes, and I'm all for that! Yes on this one too. NO! on the rest and high on my list of infamous proposed amendments: Amendment 6 - Nanny Government Law! Boo! Amendment 9 - "reduce class size" is code for RAISE YOUR TAXES. Amendment 10 - how about we vote "NO" on this one and let pig farmers raise their own pigs, instead of sniveling do gooders who have never set foot on a farm! While you're at it, if you see a Libertarian on the Ballot, vote for him or her! It's the party of principle. Here in State Representative District 5 - I'm voting for Robert Glasure. Anyway, it should be an interesting election...hope it doesn't last as long as the last one did! |
