| Democratic Party Implosion | |||||||||
| Against all historical odds, the Republican party, under the orchestration of George W. Bush, have managed to seize the reins of power and now control the legislative and executive branches with the judicial branch soon to swell with Bush appointees. While it's too early to tell the long term ramifications to the American political field, it appears at first blush, that the American public has finally awakened to the true nature of the Democratic party, and don't care much for what they see. The Democratic party has long ago ceased to stand for any enduring principal, and the party, under the wing of Clinton and his minions, has served a single pervasive objective, to seize and hold power at any cost regardless of the means. Democratic dishonor has been the one defining element of this now fractured party, and while I certainly don't have the time or energy to recount the endless list of scandals during the Clinton "presidency". Recent acts of sleazery including the last minute switch of Robert Toricelli (mentioned in my last "Rant") from the New Jersey senate race for no other reason than that he was down in the polls, to the DESPICABLE Democratic pep rally which was supposed to be a memorial service for Paul Wellstone and his wife and daughter, which included such notable highlights as the booing of Trent Lott, whose only crime was to take time out of his busy campaigning schedule to fly across the country in order to pay his respects. The Democratic ideology has become intellectually bankrupt with Democrats either parroting Republican stances or alternatively criticising Republican programs (as in the harsh attacks on Bush's economic stimulii plans) without offering any alternatives. Cynical attempts to hold on to power without offering any new ideas of substance can only work for a short time, and it appears that the American people have finally concluded that their future does not rest with the Democratic party, resulting in an unprecedented Republican sweep, and a chance to set our country back on the course to prosperity. |
