| My son, Douglas, and I started collecting Space Marine miniatures from Games Workshop in the Spring of 1999. Douglas got the Warhammer 40K boxed set for Christmas that year and we have been avidly collecting models ever since. Initially, we were unsure of what colors to paint the marines. I wanted an easy color scheme like Ultra-marines blue, but my son opted for the Yellow/Red scheme of the Imperial Fists chapter. Painting yellow and red models has proven to be a real challenge. It has taken considerable time and patience to master the proper painted technique. On the plus side my painting skills have improved.
