| Fishing on Lake Nipissing - Fishing Tips Small Bobber & jig |
||||||||||
| If you plan to do some bobber fishing with
the kids then make sure that you bring suitably sized bobbers and hooks
for the fish species that you want to catch. Too often, I have
seen anglers using bobbers and hooks that are too big for the fish that
they want to catch. For panfish such as perch, bluegills, and rock bass I have found that small fly fishing floats are ideal as they are very responsive. You should consider using hooks and jigs that are size 12 or smaller. The best source for this type of equipment is a fly fishing shop or tackle shop that carries supplies for fly fishermen. A typical bobber fishing rig for panfish should be weighted with split shot sinkers so that the bobber just floats at the surface of the water. Even the lightest bite from a fish will pull the bobber under. |
