Other Leagues in the Trail of the Grail

This page contains information about the first known hockey league (Kingston, Ont., 1885) and other amateur and pro leagues. Starting in 1927, the N.H.L. was the only pro league remaining to challenge for the Stanley Cup. Before the 1927 season, challenges were accepted from teams in other leagues. There are, however, other leagues who never challenged for the Stanley Cup but do play an important role in hockey history.
