| Here's the frame after we get the axle set and scrounged up some brake assemblies off of a '73 Ventura. The rear axle is out of (from what i was told) a '69 or '70 Impala and is a big bearing 12 bolt. The front suspension, as I understand is a custom? setup modeled over a '73-'74 Nova and has rack and pinion steering. The spindles he had were shortened Impala units but were lost over the years, so I'm left with trying to find suitable subs in order to use this setup. It's kinda a unique IFS, so I'd like to do what I can to save it. As you've noticed, the chassis has alot of reinforcing and in my opinion, makes it look like a Sandrail. Though I don't have any recent pics of the chassis, I have removed all the extra bracing, cleaning it up real nicely. Next on the list is trying to either narrow up that wide-arse rear axle or replace it with something narrower. Also re-mount the brake assembly (moved the body forward 2 inches) and other related components. This frame, though, shows to be pretty much factory spec. other than being Z'ed in the rear and a little longer to accomodate the V8. |
