'78 Black T-Top Cobra II
78 Cobra II -- Purchased in 1997, from Matt Stuophin (sp?) of Portland, OR. It's a V6, 4sp, T-Top car. Has an 8" limited-slip with 3.50:1 cogs. Custom Dual exhaust, PS, PB, and traction bars. It origionally had the unique Gold,Red, and Orange stripe over the roof and down the sides.  Also has black '76 Cobra door panels. The wheels are 14x6 Roadrunners that i picked up at a swap meet for $60! Beat the crap out of the old 13" orange backed King Cobra lacy spokes the previous owner had on it.
Looked GOOD all blacked out
A Few Other Pics Before It Was Sold
I must have put a billion miles on that car in the time I owned it. One of the best and most reliable cars I have ever owned. The V6 that I put in it was a used engine I got from an '80 Bobcat wagon (it was in the back, wrapped in plastic) in 1997 and remained in the Cobra when I sold the car in Sept. 2001. Went to Las Vegas, NV twice, round trip, and several other fair distance trips from Albuquerque. I do dreadfully remember rebuilding that lame 4 speed at least 3 or 4 times since owning it. Definatelly not a strong tranny. By the time i got to the base, it was in dire need of a paintjob. I started it but never finished it, which explains the spotted primer look. Hard to paint the car you drive every day! I ended up selling it to Nick Gorman, an airforce buddy who took it with him back to New York. As far as I know he's still got it. I really wish i could have kept this car.....
This engine was a real runner. Like a timex watch, it just kept on ticking. I pulled this thing out of an '80 Bobcat wagon which looks like it was gonna be the replacement for the one that was already in the car. It's a 2.8L block, '76 I believe, with the desireable '74 non emission port heads. Retrofitted a '78 intake and carb thus deleting the smog pump system in the making. I re-installed it later on before I sold the car. The distributor is a stock '78 but I liked using the '75 small cap and rotor for a cleaner look. Basically a rock-stock German solid lifter Ford. This pic is just before the re-install after a gasket and re-paint before the car was sold.
