At the time of this pic the front end had been totally rebuilt and all new sheet metal (accident #1) and the RH rear quarter inner and outer panels replaced (accident #2) which was when this pic was taken, just after the work. The body is all squared away for the most part, just need to finish up the small stuff. This is basically what it looked like before I put it into storage.
Just in primer, ready for storage
Here's the new 302. It's a '79 block bored .030 and '78 crank with '74 rods. Speed Pro flattop pistons and hastings rings. I had Doug Cope of Cope Performance Engines set me up with an experimental custom ground cam profile from Oregon Cam Grinders here in town that'll have a lumpy idle but be reasonably streetable. The heads are '66 54cc 289 heads fully ported and 1.94/1.50 stainless valves and Crane valve components. They've been drilled to allow the larger 351W head bolts to work but they ended up back on a 302. The heads were built by Dave at Hy-Purr Engines of Albuquerque, NM. Also have trickflow pushrods and Comp Cams roller tip rockers. Sittin on top is a Edelbrock Torker (not a Torker II) and 625 Carter AFB. Got 1 5/8 headers awaitong and will have 2.25 exh out the back monce the engine is in. Not a real powerhouse setup, but just right for crusin.
The NEW 302!
Nice and NEW!
