Daniel Radcliffe was born on July 23, 1989 in Fulham, West London UK. He now lives in UK. He prefers to be called Danny. He wanted to be an actor since he was 5 years old, but his parents were apparently too keen on the idea. His first professional acting experience was as the young David Copperfield in the 1999 BBC production of Charles Dickens' popular novel. Danny's flying career start only came about because of a chance remark at his home. His parents had friends who suggested a role in a TV production of Oliver Twist. His parents were not too keen , but eventually warmed to the idea when David Copperfield came out, produced by their friend, Kate Harwood. At last, his mum sent a Polaroid of himself to the BBC, so he went for about 5 auditions. Danny "wore them down with enthusiasm" and landed his first major role in the BBC TV adaption of David Copperfield in 1999 where he played young David. Danny can also be seen in the movie "The Tailor of Panama", a spy thriller directed by John Boorman and starring Pierce Brosnan. It was released in the spring of 2001. Those who have worked with him believe he is a natural screen actor, and perfect for the role of Harry. Kate Harwood, the producer of "David Copperfield" gave Danny his first bug break, said "He has a particular quality of naturalness and innocence". Danny zoomed into the international spotlight when he won the much-coveted role of Harry Potter in the highly anticipated film adaption of the hugely successful Harry Potter book series. Danny had quite a field of competition for the Harry Potter role, rumoured to be in that field were Haley Joel Osment and Frankie Muniz.
"I was in the bath at the time, And my dad came running in and said, 'Guess who they want to play Harry Potter?' And I started to cry. It was probably the best moment of my life."
The camera really loves him, and other children don't feel threatened by him, as he has no trouble making friends on the set. They cast him for his special qualities of gentleness and watchfulness. He has a great deal of charm and simplicity. He's very at ease with himself. He'll be terrific as Harry Potter because of his great sense of fun. He's very lively and energetic. We wish Danny good luck in breaking all kinds of records. Danny rulez!!!
