Roland vg88
The Roland VG88 is a guitar modeling system which recreates a wide variety of guitars, speaker cabinets, and placement of microphones sounds using a midi equipped 13-pin guitar. Because it’s processed in analog, the guitar patches react, express, and sound like the guitar and amp you created. The beauty is that I don’t have to buy several guitars and amps to get the sound I want. It’s all in one unit. Click image for details. The system is not perfect, but many patches are very usable and clean enough to record with. Below are some audio clips featuring different “guitar and amp” patches from the VG unit. Everything you hear is played live on a midi equipped NYLON stringed guitar. The guitar’s natural tone is completely muted.
