| The history of American War has produced a most remarkable collection of letters written by the soldiers who lived and fought during the great battles of the United States. Soldiers wrote home to loved ones to share the experience of distant lands, new customs, and the type of change that often can only on the other side of war. In the letters we can feel their passion, their excitement and their fear. Through their wounds they question themselves, their enemy and sometimes even the very reason for fighting.
