Distant view of 4 completed wind turbines.
Right-most tower in top picture. Towers comprise 3 sections which are lifted into position and fitted together to make a 70 meter tall tower.
Each blade is 35 metres long.
The middle right tower. Compare size of car at base with turbine unit on top of tower.
Size comparison, note parked sedan car at base of tower.
Two tractor units were needed to tow this tower section up the hill.
At the road summit the front tractor unit was unhitched and the tower section was on-towed to its site using only one unit. You can be sure I left plenty of room for the load to pass else car and wife might have gotten pushed over edge of hill.
A load of 2 propellor blades on their 150 mile journey from Port of Napier to the windfarm.
Passing through Dannevirke. Each blade weighs 6 tonnes.
