Sunrise over Dannevirke, looking North East. A stormy day ahead, "Red sky in the morning shepherds warning".

Sunset over Dannevirke, looking South West. This cloud formation caused by winds flowing from the Western side of and over the Ruahine Ranges to the West of Hawkes Bay is known as "the Hawkes Bay Arch". It parrallels the ranges and sometimes stretches some 40 - 60 miles across the sky. It appears often during windy conditions across the country. It is not always coloured as seen here. Beautiful cloud formations are often created.
