A.S.
Internet Services Technology Webmaster/Web Development Specialist)
The explosive growth of the Internet, and electronic commerce affects almost every company and organization today. One of the fastest growing services on the Internet is corporate intranets, internal company Internets. Successful Web communications requires a single person or team of persons to serve as the focal point and organizational players between previously unrelated work functions. Most medium to large size corporations and organizations now develop Web sites for electronic commerce, to develop marketing relationships, to distribute company-wide applications, and to access vital information in databases. Even small businesses today are developing Web sites to
participate in electronic commerce. The Webmaster/Web Development Specialist degree provides the necessary coursework and hands-on experiences to enable graduates to design, develop, maintain, manage and administer comprehensive Web sites for corporations and
organizations. A work-experience internship is part of this program. The program also provides a foundation for persons preparing for various certification examinations in
Webmaster/Web Development. Graduates of this program will have two distinct career paths - management of Web sites, and developers of Web sites. This new program is being developed as a specialty within the A.S. Computer Information Systems Analysis (Integrated Systems Specialist) degree. It is also being developed as a stand-alone FCCJ Certificate Program. The program begins in Fall of 1999,
although prerequisite courses are available now.
