Hello, everyone! First I'll introduce myself and explain exactly what I'm trying to do here. My name is Danielle Smith, and I'm 19 years old. I live in Indiana, USA. Two years ago I got sick with mononucleosis. I have not recovered from it and have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (which I now know has been caused by a persistent infection of Cytomegalovirus). Since I've been sick, I've realized there's this whole world out there no one ever talks about. A world that unless you know someone who is living in it, you'll never know it exists. I'm speaking of the world of hidden disabilities. With a hidden disability comes just as many or more mental and emotional challenges as physical challenges. With that said, I decided to create a website where young people with hidden disabilities and their loved ones can come connect and share with others like them in a positive light as well as create a database of specialists, books, and informational websites on as many hidden disabilities as possible plaguing young people.
