April 8, 2003 - Training performances come in cycles. These cycles are primarily determined by one's rate of recovery. The major question in my mind is how does one control those cycles? I want to be able to anticipate or predict the impending occurrence of a turning point so that I can adjust my workouts and races. Right now I'm trying to find the right balance of rest, easy running, and quality workouts to get myself going again. I ran 3 fairly hard races from 3/1/03 to 3/15/03, and my legs are very tired. The races went well, but I'm struggling to get back into the consistent workouts again. My legs just aren't recovering as they were before the races. How do I get that recovery rate back in gear? Time off? Well I took a total of 4 days off last week and I'm still feeling rough.
