The C.C. Club
The C.C. Club is everything that's good and everything that's bad about Uptown condensed down to 1,500 square feet of dilapidated woodwork and boozy squalor. The City Pages describes them as "Not a place to bring your niece or boss," and they're more or less correct, for what that's worth. I don't think I know anyone who wants to take their niece out drinking, and even less so their boss, so there are few establishments in the world for which I have more love and respect than the C.C. Club. Mentions of the C.C. reached their height during the Jacqueline Epoch since she lived two blocks away, but it's remained a steady favorite from the time I first moved away from my bar of origin, and it was among the first to stop carding me.
