Joe Mahon

Joe Mahon might be the smartest guy I know. It's entirely possible that I've met smarter guys, but they were boring and I didn't get to know them. That's probably just as well, because I can't tell boring from stupid anyway. Joe is actually the only worthwhile person I met while attending the University of Minnesota. He was also one of the people most immediately accepted by my often insular circle.

Despite having grown up two states away, Joe seems to know every dive-bar, gas station and grimy ethnic restaurant in the Twin Cities metro area. That alone would make him handy to have around on a night out. Combine that with his taste for cheap beer and yelling beligerantly at frat-boys and wait staff, and the man is simply a delight to be around.
