DANJERA DAM
Danjera Dam is a dog friendly camping area.  It does not have any amenities except for a pump and/or 'flush' toilet.  There are fireplaces and firewood provided.  Take drinking water or boil the dam water (the Shoalhaven Council says it is not safe for drinking) - the dam water is ok of washing.
Weekends seems to be "the boys in their 4WD" bonding time.  I met lots of them leaving as I drove in on Sunday.
There are plenty of fire trails to walk along or 4wd.  Take the canoe and paddle the dam (16k each way).  Swim, fish (Australian Perch) or just laze around and relax.
There is a cemetary which belonged to the old gold tiown on the corner of the old mining road.  Enter through the small gate.  There are some abandoned mines which can be accessed via the road or paddle up the dam - through the two grey rocks, past the wall as you turn the corner you will see a road on the left which ends at the waters edge - paddle in and follow the road up the hill.  There is a sign saying Two rivers walking track.  (Not sure about this track - will look it up)
Some old artifacts along the edge of the dam past the cemetary and around the mines.
You must be prepared to share the campsite with some gigantic goannas.  There were 4 where I camped ranging in size from one metre to 2-3 metres all very brazen about entering the tent.  Keep the screen zipped.
Kangaroos, wallabies and wombats all come around at night.  Last trip encountered a fox at night.
From Newtown to the campsite is 184k
Drive to Nowra bridge - (keep in right hand lane) take the fifth set of lights (HMAS Albatros) to  roundabout- turn left - go straight at next roundabout -  turn right into Yalwal Road - on right hand side (there is a sign saying to Yalwal, Danjera Dam and historical site) - drive for 10k to Yalwal River Picnic Area sign (this sign is on the left just as you come around a corner) -  turn left and it is 16k to the camping area.
The road is sealed until Yalwal River Picic Area sign - then gravel (in very good condition) - two cars wide with a couple of narrow bits until the last 5k which is narrow and twisty
Always be aware of cars coming around blind corners.
