FACTS AND INFO ABOUT THE DANISH PRODUCTION:



*The Danish production premiered September 15th 2000

*Even before the show opened, 90,000 tickets were sold. The first season, they sold 270,000 tickets, and when they reached the second season, they had sold 450,000 tickets.

*When it re-opened in January 2009, 50,000 tickets were sold before January had passed

*When the show had it's final performance in December 2003, it is estimated that one out of 10 of the Danish population have seen Phantom in Copenhagen...

*Det Ny Teater had three main sponsors, and 36 financial supporters

*The production had a budget on a total of 100 million Danish kroner.

*The chandelier alone cost half a million Danish kroner...

*All new costumes were made in London, but decorated at Det Ny Teater. But the majority of costumes came from the Swedish and Belgian productions.

*Per Engstr�m, which conducted Phantom in Sweden from 1989-1995, was the lead director in Copenhagen from 2000 to 2003, and again in 2009

*The lead roles were shared between two singers who performed the role 3-4 times a week

*When the show premiered, Flemming Enevold and Susanne Elmark starred in the lead roles, together with Tomas Ambt Kofod as Raoul.

*At the re-premiere in 2009, Flemming Enevold and Tomas Ambt Kofod repeated their roles, but this time they were joined with Mia Karlsson as Christine.

*In august 2000, a single containing the title track, performed by Flemming Enevold and Susanne Elmark, were sent out as promotional material, but it was never released.

*There were seven performances a week - none on Mondays, one every Tuesday to Friday, two at Saturdays, and one at Sundays.

*None of the dancers in the opening cast were Danish (although one of them lived in Denmark).

*There were made at least five different programs containing pictures of the different actors, as well as info of the production. The brochures were updated every half a year.

*Det Ny Teater opened September 19th 1908. It was the first Danish theatre with a "turning" scene.

*The Danish Phantom production played from September 15th 2000 to April 28th 2002. "Cats", it's successor, was played for half a year, until the Phantom returned September 10th 2003 to December 14th 2003. It re-opened January 16.th 2009, and is due to play until May 24. 2009.

*The last performance in April 2003 was performed by Peter Jorde and Agnete Munk Rasmussen.

*The very last last performance (December 14th 2003) was performed by Peter Jorde and understudy Mia Karlsson, which had taken over the role because Angete Munk Rasmussen left two weeks earlier (due to a commision in Germany).

*Unlike many other theatre directors, the manager of Det Ny Teater (Niels-Bo Valbro) fully understands phans who wants to see the show over and over again. According to himself, he saw the Danish production around 200 times... And yes, I envy him!!!

*The distance from the stage to the seating in the back of the Stalls are only 22 metres, but as there are three balconys, the theatre can seat a total of 1032 persons

*The scene is 18 metres wide (9 metres visible), 13 metres deep and 19 metres high (although only 7 metres are visible for the audience)

*For the smoke on stage, they used five tons of CO2. Per season, that is...

*The set changes were done by using 50 computer runned engines, 30.000 metres of wire, and 125 trap doors in the stage floor...

*An average performance of The Phantom of the Opera includes more than 200 costumes, 100 wigs, 14 dressers, 120 computer cues, 22 scene changes og 281 candles.

*The chandelier is made up of 6.000 crystals. It is 3 metres wide, and almost two metres high. It's weight is half a ton, and it falls 3 metres a second. It's said to have cost half a million Danish kroner.

*It takes app. 2 hours to create the Phantom's deformed face before each performance, and 20 minutes to remove it again. The face is moistured, neatly shaven and "decorated" with two latex pieces which are in fact glued to the skin. The face is then painted. Two different wigs and mics are added. Each Phantom has latex pieces especially cast for their face.

*There were 100 loudspeakers using 6000 metres of wire connecting them to 60 amplifiers of 1000 watt each. The lighting demanded more than 1000 advanced projectors

*2,3 kilometres of fabric has been used to create scenografi and costumes.
