FLEMMING ENEVOLD - opening cast 2000 + 2001, plus 2009

Flemming Enevold was the first Danish Phantom I saw, and I remember he made my tears stream, for the whole show. He's got a haunting voice and strong physical and psychical appearance. He is also very unpredictable in both portrayal and singing, I don't think I've seen anyone as unique in the role. Something very Leroux-ish going on, something leaving the audience at the tip of their seat. He is trained both as an actor and singer, and has done the whole scale of actor work, participating in movies, running his own theatre, doing musicals etc.

Flemming had the honour of performing at the opening night in 2000 (together with Susanne Elmark), and he got excellent reviews. He also did the premiere in 2009. In 2001, Flemming Enevold was given the Reumert Award for the best male lead role with the comment that "The gothic musical fairytale "Phantom of the Opera", about the love searching ghost in the Paris opera is as good as the man in the title role. Flemming Enevold has never sung better than he does in Phantom, and as an actor, he has a certain diabolicity and power in his body, which makes the Phantom both touching and timid at the same time. He is the perfect Phantom."

In 2009, Enevold performed at the Reumert award together with the other Danish Phantoms Preben Kristensen and Peter Jorde. They all sung Music of the Night, and they all claimed to be the true Phantom... A very amusing approach to a classic song.

Flemming was born February 12th 1952.

Special Flemming Enevold treats:
*Deliberately be ahead or behind the orchestra, for effect
*"Stomping" after Christine in "I remember/Stranger than you dreamt it"
*Adding small trills and transposing various notes every night - always different ones
*Not focusing on beautiful singing, but interesting singing
*A very strong physical and psychical acting, always on the edge
