Building An Artificial Island In The Middle Of The Dead Sea
My Rant: A Journal of Ideas Spanning Many Years

Two ideas

-Profit from selling energy to utilities produced by an array
of solar cells and wind generators on land somewhere in the west
(colorado or nevada, most likely).

-Build a floating sructure suited for oceans capable of sustaining all the needs of a small group of people, including basic food production(Sustainable Agriculture),  vegetables and fruits, a number of cattle and fowl, fishing capabilities, electricity, fresh water supply, mobility, communications, waste management, adequate shelter(indoor environment with climate control).

Rant
The land buying energy producing scheme seems to me to be a short term goal able to effect long term profit. the many tax incentives could very well keep overhead on the project low enough that profit maintains high yields.

In my mind the seasteading idea is one that would begin to be implemented only after the land scheme is deemed properly managed, perhaps via family(yoni) or perhaps by a hiring somone as caretaker.  The land scheme seems also to be a possible one man job, while the seastead is most defenitely not.

Mr. Gramlich though seems to be able to connect me to a number of people interested in a seastead project, so finding people isn't neccesarily a problem.  it might be a problem to gather people under one roof and agree to some kind of plan.  I seem to be favoring Mr. Gramlich's plan as a backboard to bounce off of on this project except his 2-liter bottle idea.  It's too slow.  I have more of a junkyard scheme.  Find pieces of scrap metal or other objects that can be put together to build a basic platform.  O.K.  Metal rusts, but certaing objects in junkyards are bound to fit the needs of many architechtual problems of the seastead.  can't the rust problem be solved by some coating procedure?  dipping them into rubber or something.

there's no point in sharing this information as yet, is there?  Nobody's actually doing this seastead thing yet are they?  if there are, there obviously not people who have a website or are advertising there doings in any way. if i do this i will have a website updated daily.  these big sea-city projects are for now a waste of time, these utopias and atlantis projects will never amount to anything because they are thinking too big. you have to start small. like mr. gramlich's plan.

California seems to me to be the optimal place for a construction/launch site. warm weather, like minded people.  expensive though.  but a shore is necessary and i am already on the east coast and i can't stand it any longer. perhaps virginia, south carolina, or florida. Maybe Australia or New Zealand. who knows? if we did own shore land, it would be nice if we could build an enclosure going itno the ocean that would block waves and allow us to work on the seastead on the water but not have it bash into the shore itself so that we could see how it floats as more stuff is added or as it gets larger.

As the planning and construction of the actual seastead is underway, we could start working on the gardens and cattle and fowl areas, so that when the time comes to set sail the gardens and animals could just be placed onto seastead already producing fruits vegetables eggs and meat.  Greenhouses of course, so that no oceanwater can touch the plants and so water can be conserved.

i know i can't do all this alone I really hope i can find like minded people.  I don't really see myself as a leader but i find myself being adament about some of my ideas that i don't see how i cant be leader.  of course i'm sure that that people out there have good and better ideas, but the bigger something like this gets and the more discussion there is the more this can turn into an atlantis/utopia nightmare, and i don't want that. with leadership i could keep this thing moving, less talk more doing.  yes there has to be discussions to come up with a finalized plan, but it should only take weeks in my mind not months. and the first seastead should take months not years.

this is all just basics but ideally some of the things i'd like to have on board would be as mr. gramlich proposed a series of motor driven propellors placed all around the seastead that can all be controlled from one point. i want gps to aid in getting around and to be able to stay in one place.  Air purifiers inside habitat.

Float Inc.(www.floatinc.com) builds floating platforms designed for either protected or ocean seas.  Question.  Can it move?  Can any size group of people raise the  $1.2(Protected Waters)$5-$7.5(Ocean) million an acre cost?  Perhaps a corporation could be made which would first sell idea of ocean retirement to rich old people.  charge %50-80 more than it actually cost to build. actual platform work can be outsourced to Float Inc.  All we would have to do is build the habitat etc. on the top and it's done.  All the profit can be used to buy our own platform, gear, and anything else we want to outfit the seastead with. it could work.  a little more work than i probably can handle but it still coud very well work.

Buy a small island to work off of?  this needs an architecht and i don't know if i can handle that job. i just get flashes of images they are all niceby themselves but how do i blend them into a unified structure?

defense, even with a small structure is important. as it is, there are enouph "pirates" out there for there to be a known danger. i only foresee the growth of such pirates as people make the sea their home.

i most certainly want a family but how can i compromise these projects with building a family. no wife would accept this like, would she?

i want a big room that is completely empty, an white(ideally al
l the surfaces could change colors). i want lots of random but tasteful pictures and paintings onthe walls.  all transactions and bills payed electronically.  All floors should have drain systems for easy cleaning.

I don't know much about hyroponics.  But it's obvious It will need to be used to make the most of the space.

An ultra-light aircraft that is powered by solarpanels on the wings and a bicycle-like pedaling system would be a great way to get around Israel.  Runway on island.  Runway on land base.  Allows for touring flight business venture.

Make a webpage for your island ideas. It should have a message board for people to suggest their own ideas. It should have pictures. It should also express  the reasons you want to make the island.  It should explain Ayn Rand and Robert Heinlein and what they mean to you.  Itshould explain kevin gramlich's idea.

I don't care what shape my island is. The center will probably have a squarefoundation because that is the easiest to start out with. But around that could be concentric circlesof greenhouses, etc. There should be a dock/port area for boats. There shouldalso be a small runway for an ultra light plane.

I want to build this island because I want tohave complete control of my life. Ithink this reflects a deep fear I have of change and uncontrollable events.  Because I can't stand seeing other people's mistake, and it doesn't bother me much to see my own.

radio flyer. the name of my first plane will be radio flyer
