NUTRITION PROGRAM

This Project is a part of the MEDICAL PROJECT of the ACRIS- IRM- MISSAU at  MILANGE, ZAMBEZIA, MOZAMBIKE, DEC. 2002 to NOV. 2003

MAIN OBJECTIVE: Nutritional Support for Undernourished Children

SPECIFIC PURPOSE:

  1. Milk supply and other nutritional support for children suffering of MARASMO, KWASHIOSKOR, and Growth Fallacies, after their time as internal patience at the local Hospital.

  2. Milk supply and other nutritional support for TWINS and ORPHANS who lack parental support.

STRATEGIES:

Patients of the Hospital ,after their time as internal patience, must have a prescription from a Doctor advising the type of Milk he should drink and any other Nutritional Support needed.

If the Social Department receives a child with no family support and feeding deficiency, they may derive the child to a Doctor or nurse, who will evaluate and write a prescription to get the needed nutritional support.

This support will be offered at the location of the Reform Church (IRM), in Milange in two given days of the week (Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 A.M.) They will be attended by the staff of the medical project if they have a Medical prescription and for as long as there is stock available.

In order to continue with this kind of support, children must have their weight control card and a monthly health control card.

Since fund are limited we urge the medical professionals to choose children who really need this support. When the number of children surpasses the program's capacity, we will notify the doctors.
