The "brownie" (her name is Amber) saga continues. I just had the chance to meet her. I don't have a lot of experience with DEHs or nutmegs, but from what I've seen in pictures, she's either not one of those or a rather unusual shade of them. Basically she's kind of golden-yellow in color, but a bit darker than you might expect on a DEH (as compared to her siblings and photos). It's kind of a light-brown cinnamony color. Her belly isn't white, it's kind of a beige/cinnamon color. I can't really say whether she's self or non-self but since she fades off at the sides like a DEH, my vote is non-self. The shading is like a DEHs but a different kind of golden-brown color. Cinnamon is kind of a good word for it. Her feet and tail are very dark, I don't know if this is skin (like usual), fur, or a combination of both. She looks like she *might* be a nutmeg that's soon to molt (she has a little dark spot at her head) but apparently she's looked this way for a while. She started out **brown** (no joking about it . . . way brown) while her DEH siblings were a light yellow-whitey color. I just find it hard to believe a gerbil could start out looking that way and not be considered even slightly unusual! Here are some photos.
She's lots lighter than an agouti, darker than her DEH sibs, and just about the same color of argente golden. Here are some comparisons.

With a DEH (Amber, right)
Hmmm... so now what do you think? I don't know WHAT to think, but one things for sure, they're cool, and I want one, even if you think it's just a DEH or nutmeg = )
