Sarah's Moonwalk

Last Thursday afternoon we got a snow storm that closed schools on Friday (02/23/2001).  By Saturday, the weather warmed up a bit and Sarah wanted to go play in the snow.  So, after ice skating lessons Saturday morning, she went to play in the backyard.  At first, she was making homes for ants because they would get cold.  But then she decided to go on a moonwalk.  She stomped all over the yard so there were footprints everywhere.  Those were the craters.  She stuck a stick in the snow because that's what she tied herself to so she wouldn't float away.  She was out there for over an hour.  When she was finished and came inside, I asked her about her adventure and she told the whole story.  It was such a good story, I asked her to write it down.  She drew a picture of her adventure and wrote a story about it.  Here is what she made...

And here is the story she wrote.  I cleaned up the spelling, but haven't changed the words.

Once upon a time, Monica, always ready for an adventure, went to the moon to save a fairy.  She had heard about it from her Super Monica Walkie-Talkie.  She whizzed by the U.S.A. as her friends waved good-bye.  She had a very hard time getting there.  She had meteors and a hard wind.  WHISH WHISH WHISH.  She landed on the moon.  Then she found that there was a big bad fox trying to eat the fairy.  But Monica jumped and pounced on the fox.  Finally the fox fell off the moon and landed on the Earth and the people took him to the zoo.  And Monica took the fairy home and the next day they had a parade.  And from that day on Monica always helped the fairy.
