OUR STORY
Hi My Name Is Alice. My daughter Danielle was born 6 weeks premature. She was a beautiful but very tiny little girl. She weighed 4 lb. 13 oz. but was only 16" long. She had beautiful red hair and was a very good baby, but she remained in the NICU for the first 11 days of her little life due to spells of apnea and bradycardia. She was then released from the NICU on Friday July 31, 1992. She was such a good baby. We took her to meet her Greatgrandparents on Saturday, taking pictures of the 3 generations. We returned home and things went well the next day, then early Monday August 3, 1992 I woke up listening to my husband on the phone. Getting up and going into the kitchen I realized he was on the phone with the Fire department, and there he was preforming CPR on our little girl. Danielle was then rushed to the nearby hospital and worked on for several hours. Our whole family showed up at the hospital and we sat together and prayed, but it was too late and our baby could not be saved. A little while later her pediatrician showed up to offer his condolences, see he was never notified that Danielle was being released from the NICU, she was released by the neonatologist. Her pediatrician asked if they had sent her home on a monitor and theodur? We asked why should she have been? He said yes. After the autopsy was done and they found that the cause of death was SIDS we were notified by the Massachusetts chapter of SIDS and introduced to a Host family. I must say that the people at SIDS were wonderful. Well a year went by and the day before Danielle's one year angel date we were blessed by God with another baby girl. I must say it is hard every year to have my second daughter's birthday the day before Danielle's heaven date but in some aspects it takes my mind off it just a little bit.
