| A MOMENT OF TRUTH | ||||||||||||
| A moment of wisdom, But the bridges are burning. The dog is too old, There's no point in relearning. I reach for the stars, But the moon blocks my way. There is no clear path, To what was yesterday. In the fire I am sitting, And your breath is but the fuel. I am begging for your patience, And the burnt flesh is my truth. Distant bright lights, Flash as they frame, One dark obscure point, That I know is your name. The floods they are coming, The oil is your blood. The bricks are all falling, To smother your love. In the fire I am sitting, Beneath your deadly gaze. I am asking for forgiveness, But in your pupils dance the flames. The prisons are locked, And the jailors make chains. Their hair is all dark, From the black golden rains. A moment of wisdom, But the bridges are burning, And deep inside me, A whole world is churning. In the fire I am sitting, And you have daisies in your hair. I am hoping you will love me, As you drop your dreadful stare. A moment of meaning, But the skies, they are crumbling. No stars could hold up, That cold distant rumbling. I fall to the ground, But the flowers are there, And as I lay me down, Poppies twist through me hair. In the earthquake I am standing, And you hold your sceptre high. I am reaching out my hand to you, But your golden wings wont fly. The sun is all warming, As it lights up the price. But amidst all the screaming, Your heart feels just as ice. The sirens are wailing, For their noise is your voice. Your demons come running, To tear away choice. In the earthquake I am standing, As your clocks all freeze in time. I am wishing you could turn it back, And the stillness is your sign. The buildings are falling, The china all breaks. On those patterned surfaces, I can see now mistakes. A moment of meaning, But the skies, they are crumbling, And deep inside me, A whole world is tumbling. In the earthquake I am standing, All your candles ring me round. I wondering if you'll come for me, As your iron heart stays bound. A moment of truth, But the life boats are drowning, As the great golden hull, Bends to sea as if frowning. Bits of brown slimy weed, Are poking through cracks, And your shot to my heart, Is leaving red clotted tracks. In the shadows I am sinking, And your oil burns my lungs. I am looking to the surface, For the air I thought would come. I see creatures are pulling, Your soul through your skin. You embrace them around you, As though they were kin. The ice that was you, Has torn into our ship, But the daisies sit bobbing, In the red wine you sip. In the shadows I am sinking, And you sing to me despair. I am realising your nature, As you twist weapons in your hair. The water surrounds me, And you sink out of sight. Your prisoners have lived, In perpetual night. A moment of truth, But the life boats are drowning, But deep inside me, A whole world is surrounding. In the shadows I am sinking, Now I do not call your name. For my last breath to the surface, Is the truth, you never came. |
