In neighbours land we met A search for common goal But our different paths distracting Forgot we're same in soul
For he was camped out on the moon Self shuttled into space Like nail on board he turned My mind, he fell from grace
Blind eye I turned, he grated on Common house brought man to man Too often we crossed over As only life foe can
Till I knew his deadly secret And raffled out his game His hands were on my woman My lands fell to his name
My money in his pocket My clothing cross his breast My comrades to his battle My own heart beat in his chest
Finally to foe I brought my weapon Wreaked destruction in my path Aware; different. Blind; the same And ignorant of aftermath
Years of bloody fighting And neither side could win Early offenses not remembered But I knew 'twas evil sin
Down to last man, were matched equal And thrust sword to each man's chest Convinced our battle over Which man's way and method best
Then as each man lay down to his fate Death words were spoken free He cried out with his dying breath Why did you crucify me?
In black he left me wondering Different, or the same? Now a wasteland lay behind us In a fight to hold one name
My friends, my foes, my loves, my babes All taken under sun How can you forgive a foolish man For all the ruin he has done?
Oh if only I had looked beyond This bad feeling in my skin Back to the place we both came from To hold peace not death within. |
