| GRADING POLICY Active communication between home and school is essential for success as is feedback. Several times throughout each grading period you will receive a report that outlines your child's math progress in each of the graded areas. Also, after each completed unit or chapter, a packet will be sent home for your review and signature. BE ON THE LOOKOUT for THESE!!!!. Graded Areas Tests and Performace Tasks 50% of total grade Daily Work (includes quizzes and classroom work or projects) 40% of total grade Homework (see below) 10% of total grade HOMEWORK POLICY Practice is essential to the acquisition of new math concepts. Homework assignments are designed to provide practice and reinforcement of the skills taught in class. Assignments are not excessive and will be graded for COMPLETION and ATTEMPT ONLY! Your child will earn one of the following marks for each assignment: Check + ALL problems are attempted, and ALL work is shown Check MOST of the assignment is complete Check- INCOMPLETE assignment All students begin each grading period with a 100% homework grade. After two incomplete or four partially complete assignments your child will earn a warning notice that will need to be signed and returned by the parent/guardian. This will notify you that the next missed assignment will decrease the student's homework grade by 25%. Each additional incomplete assignment will result in a continual decrease in the child's homework grade. Again, parents and students will be notified if this problem occurs. Remember...Practice makes Perfect! |
