| Danielle Rowe has wanted to dance for as long as she can remember - and Adelaide audiences can help the girl from Surrey Downs cement her position as one of the nation's best. Danielle, 20, is the youngest of six dancers nominated by the Australian Ballet Company for its inaugural $20,000 Telstra Young Ballet Dancer Award. She returns to Adelaide next month for the company's American Masters tourn and people can help her win the coveted award by text-messaging a vote for her to judges. Danielle, who moved to Melbourne at 15 to go to the Australian Ballet School, said at 13 she knew she wanted to make her life ballet. "Even though it is really hard work, I fell really privileged to be able to do it," she said. Danielle said the highligh of the Adelaide shows would be having her family and friends in the audience. "Mum doesn't get to see me dance very often so it is really special to have her watch me," she said. *Danielle didn't win the $20,000, but she won the people's choice award, and recieved $5,000.* |
