Danielle  Louis  is  many  things: honest,  witty,  amiable,  and  a  good-natured  leader.  A Haitian-American first generation from Far Rockaway, New York.   Since she was a child she had a love for knowledge.    Danielle's first of many exeptional accomplishments was graduating  high school  in  three  years  as  salutorian.   In her free time  she also tutored math in an after school program, played on the tennis (captain), volleyball (captain), basketball teams, and ran track.

In the Fall of 1997, Danielle  started  at Columbia  University  hoping  to make  the best of her experiences  at  one of the  finest  schools  in  the country/world.  As an  engineering  student she spent a lot of time  at her studies.   Two  organizations that have  a  great  part  in  Danielle's professionals  development  while  in  college are the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).

In her sophomore year, she was appointed to be Pre-College Initiative Chair for Columbia's NSBE chapter.   This  position allowed her to make a lasting effect on many  high school students, organizing  workshops  and  events  for  the teens,  positively  exposing them to college life.   Her junior year she took the position of Programs Chair.  It was her responsibility to arrange various events  on  campus for  the organization.   As  a  senior, Danielle held the elected position of Vice President  Internal  of  the  NSBE  Chapter  at Columbia  University .  This position gave her the opportunity to speak with on-campus officials and other group leaders about different the chapter wished  to  see  and  do  at Columbia.  Many students participate in NSBE events, such as resume writing  workshops,  information  sessions  with  different  engineering companies, career panels, summer internship panels, study breaks and community service.

In  May  2001,  Danielle  graduated  from  the  Fu  Foundation  School  of  Engineering and Applied  Science  at  Columbia University.   She majored  in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Economics.  Danielle hopes to delve into research, and then pursue a Masters in Statistics.
