| TITLE | AUTHOR | GENRE | FIC SUMMARY |
| Wrong Turn | Brionhet | Gen | An intersection, made rather complicated by a couple of coincidences. Crossover with "Profiler. I
stumbled across this fic this morning while searching out
something else and I literally had to force myself *not* to reread it for the millionth
time. Brionhet is a favorite writer of mine and this story is
no exception. What makes this story work so well, is the
author's ability to pull the reader in even if they've never seen the show The Profiler
(which I have not). This story features a whumped, extremely
strong Daniel with an amazing feel of team work, even *without* the team being in each
other's presence for the majority of the fic. Give this fic a chance even if you've never seen The Profiler. |
| Coterie | Joag | Gen | A mysterious relic endangers the lives of SG1 while bringing them together to a level they never expected. |
| Day and Night Series | Lady Grey | Gen | I cannot think of a summary that does this fic justice... sorry... |
| The Sphinx Conspiracy | Lyn | Gen | Daniel's desire to help out a friend leaves him fighting for
his life. |
| Shattered | Lyn | Gen | Epilogue for Forever in a Day. |
| Bloodtide | Sunrise | Gen | What makes Daniel so special? |
| Family Responsibilities | BeeBee | Gen | ? |
| Savior | Joag | Gen | 1st person POV, Daniel wakes up and wonders who's the stranger taking care of him |
| Architects of Fate | Jmas | Gen | I like this one. It's gen but great Jack and Daniel moments and some nice team stuff too, Carter, Teal'c, Janet, Hammond, Feretti, the whole gang. There's a natural disaster at the mountian and Daniel's injured. Jack has to take care of him until help arrives. |
| Separation Anxiety | ELG | Gen | Here's another gen fic. It's a long one and a great read. In this one Jack and Daniel are both injured and care for each other while trying to outrun an enemy. Daniel's carried off by an Unas bounty hunter and Jack goes to his rescue. Great team dynamic in this as well. Carter and Teal'c follow behind with a rescue team. |
| Prodigal's Return | Brenda Antrim | Gen | I like almost everything she writes gen
or slash. If you haven't read any of her stuff yet, it's well worth the stop. In this one,
set after the Curse, Jack goes to |
| Into the Labyrinth | ELG | Gen - Rating - R | When I first read this story I was just
hooked by the mystery and by the author's very strong characterizations of Daniel and
Jack. In this story, Daniel needs to get away from the SGC for a while -especially Jack.
They are in the middle of their not so friendly phase. Daniel gets the chance to go out on a dig but suddenly Jack gets to come along because they found Goa'uld writings in the dig. In this one you get to read a vulnerable Daniel as he tries to work through what happened to him some years ago when he was just a student. This is balanced against Jack's need to protect Daniel but their conflict as well. There are people from Daniel's past lurking and he is in a lot more danger than he realizes. The end is great, heart-thumping exciting! The author has promised a sequel but that was years ago and I doubt that it will ever be written. A good long read! |
| Next Best Thing | Babs | Gen | This is a rare treat in this fandom a Daniel and Sam
friendship fic. So rare I usually don't even look for these
types anymore but when I find one I jump on it. A strong Sam and Daniel mixed together.
This is a vignette more than a truly realized plot. We don't know the detail of why Sam
and Daniel are in the situation they are in. Another element I love is that Sam has to be
the Air Force Major and pull them out of the situation you have to love a strong woman. This doesn't diminish or feminize Daniel in anyway. He is still the astute, strong man but he is in need and Sam must rise to the occasion. In some ways, I wish this fic was longer to explore their relationship something that is sorely lacking during some seasons of our beloved SG1. Enjoy! |
| Terms of Endorsement | TravellingOne | Gen | I've read this fic several times. It never fails to yank at the pit of my stomach and grip my heart. When I first read it I was on the edge of my seat, I couldn't read it fast enough! Though the entire team appears in this fic, it is a Daniel fic. The negotiations are somewhat different from any other negotiations Daniel has ever been challenged with before. The difficulties have nothing to do with the language and everything to do with how the natives test the loyalty and trustworthiness of their visitors. |
| Business as Usual | ETS | Gen | "Business As Usual" is one of those stories that play out in your mind as a movie while you're reading it. With an interesting plot and intense situations, set in season 4 after "The First Ones", this story is a Daniel-whumper, but the rest of the team is far from forgotten. The descriptions are such that you have a feeling you're on the scene yourself (which I wouldn't recommend, btw ;). All in all, an exhilarating, angsty ride which makes the time spent for reading it, time well spent, indeed. |
| Cold Comfort | Tiffany May Harrsh | Gen - Major character death. | First of all, I repeat: there's a major character's death in
this story, so those of you who don't read such fics - stay
clear (or grab a load of tissues). "Cold Comfort" is one of those stories I like
but I'm not sure why I keep going back to it, since it's a very sad, heartbraking
tale of friendship and family, told through a whumping adventure without a happy end. It's a not-so-long story with a twist, but you'll see what I mean once you read it. And although it makes you pile soggy tissues on the floor, "Cold Comfort" also leaves you with a feeling of, well...comfort. As the title says. |
| Sparrow | TravellingOne | Gen | TravellingOne is one of my
favorite gen authors, and her stories were among the first
ones I've read back when I joined the online Fandom. I like her style and imagination, and
it's very diffictult to pick a
favorite story from her collection. "Sparrow" is a newer one, and the only one
of T1's stories I was debating should I read it or not, because the summary warned me it
could be a very angsty piece. The debate with myself was very
short, however, and I'm glad for it because "Sparrow" is one of the best works of fan fiction I've ever read. Very angsty, very sad, but with an optimistic ending. This story is an AU tag for "Fire and Water". In the author's words: "Sam did not undergo hypnosis when Daniel was left on Oannes. And so, no one went back for him - until now." The setting is season 7, and the very idea of spending 6 years in confinment of any kind is not an appealing one in the least. Doing that to Daniel...well...all I can say is "poor Danny" ;) I haven't yet managed to get to the end of the story without using at least one tissue, so consider yourself warned. |
| Try Again | Tefnut | Gen | "Unknown aliens find how to best hurt a linguist."
The description was enough for me when I first found it, because the klaxons immediately
went off, screaming "WHUMPAGE!" I love Tefnut's fanfics, and this one is by far my favourite,
not only for the quirky, creepy-yet-amusing aliens that are introduced, but the melting my sappy heart does in a few areas that stem completely from 'teamy goodness' and, what I love the most, Jack and Daniel friendship. That's about all I can say; the story is from early 2005 so it's not an 'oldie', but it's one of those that'll stick with you, and will always be near the top of my list of favourites. =) |
| Symptomatic | Sneezy | Gen | I don't normally frequent |
| Again | TravellingOne | Gen | In this one Daniel finds Atlantis but something happens and - what do you know - he doesn't get any recognition for it. Jack is there in full force also. It is a lovely angst one. I particularly like the end paragraph which are Jack's thoughts about Daniel. |
| Towards the Flame | Yum@ | Gen | Towards the Flame is one of the best episode tags for Fire and Water I've read. It has good team dynamics but it's mainly a Jack and Daniel friendship story. It's still one of my favorites. |
| Half-Life | Jennghis Khan | Slash - NC-17; multiple pairings. | This is a dark but well written
drama. In this story, Daniel with Sam and Jack have survived an
apocalyptic event on Earth. They as well as others of the human race have been saved and
live on a ship. The ship and its journey are secondary to the emotional trauma the
characters undergo. Jack is responsible for the survival of the remnants of Earth and his darkest behavior surfaces in order to cope with the situation. Sam must work to keep the ship running and her outlet is her best friend, Daniel. Meanwhile Daniel wanders the ship keeping both Jack and Sam alive. He offers himself to both of them as a release and as a friend. Each treat him differently but he continues to support them throughout. This is an intimately dark story with sad undertones and themes. It is well written and gave me the chills as I read it. |
| Daniel Jackson's Diary | Anais | Slash - NC17 | Heed the warnings on the homepage or use the direct link for straight to the story. This was the story that hooked me into the fandom. It smart, irreverent, hilarious, and heartbreaking. It's very long so be warned. Daniel's new year's resolution "I WILL NOT DIE" This is a Briget Jones take on Daniel's diary, it contains almost daily accounts for events over twelve months. I've read the whole thing at least a half dozen times and I still laugh myself to tears! Don't be scared by the D/P Daniel ends up where he belongs unfortunatley for him! |
| The Word is Stay | Babs | Slash | This is a slice of life story. Daniel has to go in for surgery and Jack stays with him during his recovery at home. It's a sick, crabby, Daniel who retreats into himself, and a warm, patient Jack who cares for him. Again, for music lovers, the last scene has Jack playing the piano. A wonderful character study--we learn so much about Jack and Daniel-- and a wonderful relationship study as well. |
| Private Artist | Brionhet | Slash | This series is one of my favorites because it portrays Daniel as a musician--a guitarist to be exact. It's a sequel to another series Disconnected (also a series of three stories)in which Daniel is sexually assaulted and traumatized during a mission. While the information in this story arc is referred to in the Private Artist series, it's not absolutely essential to read it first although it, too, is an EXCELLENT read (but rather dark in places) |
| ServilXY-13 | Sideburns | Slash | SG-1 is taken prisoner by a people in perpetual war who ask that our team help them defeat the enemy. Only problem is, Daniel isn't a soldier and must be separated from the rest of his team |
| Not Such a Bad Day | Lyn | Slash | ? |
| Ten Step Programme | Devra | Slash | ? |
| Guardians of the Heart | babs and Devra | Slash | ? |
| The Lareina | Joag | Slash | ? |
| Within the Realm of Possibilities | Devra | Slash | ? |
| It's in the Genes | Devra | Slash | ? |
| All in the Name of Research | Devra | Slash | ? |
| What is Essential | babs and Joag | Slash | Daniel's world is turned upside down when Jack is brutally murdered before his eyes until a trip to another planet sends his world spinning once more. |
| Ice Storm | Joag | Slash | An ice storm, Daniel's sick... what else can go wrong? |
| A Good Man is Hard to Find | babs | Slash | Sometimes it's nice to let someone else take care of you |
| Something That We Do | babs | Slash | Jack takes care of a sick Daniel. |
