| Enlightened | Travelling One | Gen | When SG-1 meets up with more of the energy-based life forms from the moon M4C-862, understanding them becomes a matter of life and death. |
| See You Alive | Travelling One | Gen | This is a tag to Shroud. Jack and Daniel have a farewell chat. |
| Bushido | Lembas7 | Gen | This is a Ninja!Daniel story, well crafted and
full of yummy angst. The Jack/Daniel interactions are wonderful, the theory behind Daniel being a "ninja" is sound, and there's a good dollop of Daniel worship to be had as well. |
| Shidachi | Lembas7 | Gen | Sequel to Bushido. |
| The Furling's Gift - Precious Moments | Amperage | Gen/Kidfic | Daniel gets a pet and Teal'c's along for the ride. This line cracked me up but the whole fic is full of similar gems |
| Vindication | Brenda Anders | Gen | An old friend of Daniel's passes away, and Daniel is invited to deliver the eulogy at his service. He's understandably reluctant to be seen amongst all his former colleagues--only two years after his infamous crowd-clearing lecture--so Jack volunteers to come along as moral support. |
| Destiny | Lyn | Gen | A series of missing scenes and epilogue for In The Serpent's
Lair. This is a terrific fic written from Daniel's PoV as he finds himself mortally
wounded on Apophis' ship and then realizes he's alone and his survival depends on himself.
I keep forgetting this little fic and then every now and then I come across it and realize just how much I love it. |
| The Dead Can Dance | Sorrel | Pre-slash | "He came here most every night, now, a grudging sense of
duty changed to grudging respect changed to friendship changed to something more." Jack pays a visit to the Jackson household. AU. This is a VERY AU story, completely disregards the Stargate, though Jack still is a colonel in the Air Force. It's a Team Fic in a unique way, told entirely from Jack's perspective. |
| Between a Ribbon and a Crash | Devra | Slash | A challenge to whump Daniel with a ribbon device and she does it so well. Opens with a wonderful scene between Daniel and Hammond and slides into lovely Dannywhumping and Jackcomfort. |
| Zapped | JoaG | Slash | Punished for a momentary lapse in complying with alien customs, Jack has to both keep Daniel alive and convince their captors to let them go free. Interesting look at another planet's customs and how simple curiosity can get Daniel in trouble. Lovely h/c as always and great team moments as well. |
| Holding On | Lyn | Slash | Written for the 60 Seond Fanfic Challenge: It's
what I do in the middle of the night. Beautifully worded look into Jack and Daniel at home after a nasty mission. The last line brings tears to my eyes. |
| Jack's Viking Sky | Mitch H | Slash | Stranded on an unknown world, Jack and Daniel
struggle to survive the harsh environment and the crushing confines of a Viking society
corrupted by the dead goa'uld, Nirrti. Jack has been poisoned and Daniel must find a way
to exist and prosper within the remnants of Nirrti's destructive laws in order to preserve his lover's life, and to get them to a possible gate home. This is a long (8 books) series of stories that make for intense and compelling reading as Jack and Daniel struggle first to survive and then to integrate themselves into an alien society. Well worth making the time to read it. |
| Two In One | Sistine | Slash | Jack gives Daniel a little present for his b-day |
| Canon for a Minor Key | Taselby | Slash | I'm always thrilled to find stories of how Jack
and Daniel get together that are realistic. Something that I can see actually happening slotted right in amongst canon. Taselby has a great way of describing things. That, combined with her unique turn of phrase, really lets this fic stand out as being wonderfully awkward. Not the fic itself, but the moment it's portraying. The elegance of this writing is how perfectly the author was able to capture the hesitancy and fear underlying the hopefulness of Jack having obtained that which he never figured he'd be able to have--Daniel. This is basically the story of the "morning" after the first time, which happened to be a drunken, frenzied coming together. Daniel is patient with Jack, who, ironically enough, is the one freaking out, though he's also the who has probably wanted it the most (at least, by hints and sub-tones to the conversation). The emotions are laid bare and captures a moment in time where Jack and Daniel, theoretically so wrong for each other, somehow manage to work together so perfectly. |
| Cave In | Lady Ra | Slash | Post season 7 fic that focuses on Sam discovering
Jack and Daniel's newly formed relationship while the team's under duress. Yes, there's lots of Danny whumping (natural causes) in this one. The premise is probably one of the most common used H/C devices known to man. Daniel in a cave. Cave in. Daniel hurt. Rescue ensues. But the nice thing about this fic is that the entire time up to Daniel's recovery time in the infirmary is told from Sam's point of view. Then it's shared between Jack's and Sam's point of view. It's also refreshing in that this isn't one of those common "Sam's jealous of Daniel" for having won Jack's love fics. She's genuinely happy for the boys; and, in my humble opinion, I feel that's closer to canon Sam than many of the stories that paint Sam with a rather unsavory green brush. Though this is slash, there's no blatant sexual scenes, just lots of tenderness and love that the boys can't hide. |
| Cliffhanger | Ankh | Slash | A dangerous situation and a revelation when
Daniel takes the plunge When Jack has an accident offworld, Daniel risks his own life to get to him. Then Daniel tries to sacrifice himself which makes Jack very unhappy even when he knows the reason why. Lousy summary but this one's a little hard to summarize without giving the whole thing away. So just go, read <g>. |
| He Loves Me Series | Malta | Slash | Daniel is in love with Jack but Jack's not at all
able to be receptive in a positive way. Lots of internalized homophobia, which I find fascinating from a cultural standpoint. self hating homophobia is really nasty business, gives rise to the most harmful actions in our modern society. the author plays with this a bit, but we've got a lot more going on than that. something's going on in jack and daniel really doesn't seem to have a clue, but just wants the man. this is told from Daniel's POV, much internal discussion going on. excellent use of dialogue and great atmosphere. some twists and turns that keep things lively, the story never falls flat. it's not a/u. but its definitely a dark side of our jack, the really and truly torttured soul we forget he is sometimes. this man we were recently sayng was suicidal and all that at the beginning of the movie. |
| Hook | Kalimyre | Slash | When Daniel comes back from being held prisoner
off-world, the damage goes far deeper than the physical. This is the story of his
recovery. |
| The Sight of Him | Janis Cortese | Slash | This one is a reworking of "Cold
Lazarus" which postulates that when the crystal-being examined Jack after he had been knocked cold, the greatest source of his pain was that he could not express his love for the pretty linguist. What would it have done to help Jack then? So, it's a season 1 fic, which I'm usually against slash-wise, because I just don't see Daniel as cheating on anyone. But, since this is labeled as an AU, it works for me. Plus, the author really captured the alien feel to the crystal entity as he's (it's?) in Jack's form, so the intrigue factor alone made me continue reading it. |
| Manipulation | Kalimyre | Slash | Someone Daniel tried to forget a long time ago
turns out to be closer than he ever knew. ****** Now here's my view on it. The author weaves a tale of intrigue and psychological drama using events we see in real headlines every day. Much of this story could be happening right now somewhere in the USA. That realism adds a spooky element to this story. Daniel struggles to survive. Our Jack comes through for him. The ending is very satisfying, definitely a nail biter to read but you won't be let down in the end. |
