Daniel del Solar

Del Solar, has worked in the media for three decades, starting with the Comunicación Aztlan programming collective at KPFA in 1971. He has been a leader in innovative multicultural public broadcast programming working at KQED-TV with the local production unit, "Open Studio" in 1975-76 and has as General Manager of WYBE-TV, Philadelphia (1992-95) and KALW-FM, San Francisco (1985-92. TV programs he’s produced have been broadcast by PBS stations in Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, and San Francisco.

He’s had a continuing involvement with Latino culture first as co-producer of a weekly 2-hour radio broadcast magazine titled "Reflecciónes de la raza," for four years at KPFA-FM, Berkeley, California, and as the founding co-editor of "Tin Tan" (a Chicano/Latino cultural magazine published in San Francisco, CA), and work in popularizing Frida Kahlo before she became an United States and international icon.

Most recently he worked to co-produce “Chile, Promise of Freedom” distributed by Freedom Archives. It features interviews with Ariel Dorfman, Isabel Allende, Rene Castro, Isabel Letelier, and others.

He attended the International Conference of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity in Caracas, Venezuela in December, 2004.
